Attendees: Andy Stevens, Mary Giroux, Evie Schaffer, Jay Stith, Bill Buterbaugh, Brad Wilson
Minutes: Minutes of the previous meeting were approved.
Financials: Jay reported on Foundation financials which remain in good shape. There is a potential student for the Karen Price scholarship for 2026/2027. Interviews are under way.
Worthy Causes: Tim Kelly from the Auburn Rotary Club presented a global grant opportunity for our club to consider. It is to provide funds to the Benjamin House Ministries in Kampala, Uganda so they can scale up their program to support more residential students. It includes purchase and installation of a septic bio-digester as well as equipment to teach trades. The Board vote was tabled until after Tim’s presentation to club membership at our general meeting.
A donation to Scout Troop 61 was discussed. Mary will discuss this with Dave Lee to find out what their specific needs are this year.
A donation to WRVO was approved.
Pancake Breakfast: Ticket prices of $5 for children and $10 for adults were approved. This is a “no change.” Bill brought up the fact that the breakfast leadership team (Bill B, Mary, Chuck O and Ed Evans) are aging and that duties will need to be transitioned to other members at some point in the future. The current team has been managing the event for many years. There was also a discussion on how we can publicize all that our club does for the community at the breakfast.
Membership: Thomas and Lorena Billone were approved for club membership. They are sponsored by Ed Evans. The new member notice will be posted in the upcoming newsletter.
Andy presented a document outlining member expectations by the club. It provides a good summary of what members are expected to contribute to the club including attendance, participation in service projects and financial obligations. Andy will send the draft to Board members for suggested changes/additions.
Paul Harris Discussion: Andy proposed that upon induction into the club new members receive 100 Paul Harris points from the Club’s point inventory to encourage new members to work toward a Paul Harris award. A vote will be taken.
Other Business: Brad will be attending President Elect training in March and let us know that we are able to get a discount on Rotary supplies through that event. Mary will take stock of inventory to see what we need.
Next meeting: April 4, 2026
