PRESIDENT'S CORNER ... by Prez Bill
Greetings, I write this having just returned from the District Conference. A very humbling experience. As usual, our Club punched way above it's weight class with PDG Ward Vuillemot and PP Bill Conole walking away with distinguished individual honors; Ward for his piloting of the Books for the World campaign and Bill for his selfless support of the Club. Our Club was also recognized for its contribution to the Global Grant to fight opioid addiction. We should all be proud of our individual and collective contributions - I know I am. It is an honor to serve with you all. Thank you - see you at Fingerlakes on Tap this Thursday!

The Beginnings - Prior to dinner President Bill reminded everyone of the District Conference this weekend in Saratoga.
The Program - Our presenter, Mr Sam Rowser, Director of On Point for College opened his presentation by telling the colorful story of how Ginny Donahue left her corporate career to found On Point in 1999. For the first few years she managed On Point from the trunk of her car, which served as office space. Within a short period of time the program reached more students & attracted more donors & volunteers. On Point's mission is to guide young men & women along the often daunting road through college.
On Point helps students by offering mentoring, one on one counseling, transportation, clothing grants, college supplies, last dollar grants for textbooks, & security deposits, workforce transition & on campus visits to all NY State colleges. Thanks to the able leadership of Sam Rowser & his On Point Staff, over the past eighteen years
On Point has helped 7,200 students to go to college. More than 1,600 students already earned a college degree. In addition more than 3,000 students are currently in college. As a result of On Point's assistance these students are able to realize their dream of going to college & gaining vital skills that will enable them to lead productive, purposeful lives. Without On Point's support these dreams of a college education & career training would falter & go unrealized.

COUNTING DOWN OF PANCAKES & Tasks Schedule - While the annual Fathers Day Pancake Breakfast is still some weeks away, it is time to save the date on our calendars. Fathers Day this year is June 18th, so please mark that date in ink on your calendar, as well as the Friday AM and Saturday AM before for set-up, and Monday AM afterwards for tear down. This year will mark our 49th consecutive year holding our Club's biggest fund raising event, and we need every Rotarian to participate to insure its continued success!
Rotary, ShelterBox in Peru to help flood victims… from RI News
Rotary International has been working with its partner ShelterBoxto provide relief to flood victims in Peru.
Since February, flash flooding and mudslides have damaged and destroyed thousands of buildings, including homes, schools, and churches in several countries in western South America.
Rotary and Rotaract in Peru have reported widespread destruction there. A ShelterBox response team is working with local authorities and Rotary to assess the damage and determine how to help people in the northwest region of the country.
The floods in Peru have killed more than 100 people. According to the Los Angeles times, relief agencies estimate that 700,000 people have been left homeless. Heavy rains are expected to continue for the rest of the week.
Where flood waters have receded, they’ve left behind a thick layer of mud. This can lead to serious health problems and irritation of the eyes, skin, and respiratory tract, ShelterBox officials say.
