Audio Visual Equipment & Procedures .... by Ward
Skaneateles Rotary club now has the essential equipment and capability to fully assist our guest speakers with their AV needs. The equipment includes:
  • Windows 10 PC w/USB & MS Office
  • CD/DVD drive
  • Front Projector (Apple compatible) w//Screen
  • Amplified speaker & PA system
  • Internet available (quality of streaming NOT guaranteed)
AV Requirement Process/Procedures - To serve our guests with their AV requirements, good and timely communications as well as equipment is required.  Therefore, please adhere to the following when you host a speaker with AV requirements.
  1. Determine FULL requirements, including equipment, software required and media their program is on (thumb drive, CD/DVD, etc.)  If we do not the essentials, we need some time to find a solution.
  2. Communications - Supply these requirements to the Program Chair well in advance of the event (a week, at the minimum)
  3. The  Program Chair  - will see that proper individual(s) on the AV team is informed, as well a let the speaker, or speaker's host,  know who it will be.
  4. Arrive Early - See that the speaker arrives early (30 minutes is not unreasonable), and introduces themselves to the AV Geek and supplies them with the software media, reviews the requirements.
  5. Trial Run - prior the start of the meeting, to assure all is set when they start their presentation.
The above will allow us to serve our guest's requirements better and leave them with a taste of Rotary's professionalism.  Remember, it's a Team Effort from scheduling the speaker to the ending bell of the event.

This information can be found in your Website Site Pages (left hand side of homepage) under "AV Requirements/Procedures"
Annual Christmas Fund Raiser, December 3rd  The Skaneateles Rotary Club’s annual Christmas fund raiser will be held on Thursday December 3rd at the Skaneateles Country Club.      Don't Forget - the organizing committee needs fellow Rotarian support in coming up with raffle prizes. The goal is to have at least 50% of attendees win a prize. While local merchants and professionals will be canvassed again this year for prize donations, all Rotarians are also being asked to donate prizes such as a bottle of wine, a gift card, etc. Please let Roy McDonald know in advance of the event what you will be bringing in the way of a prize. Even if you can’t attend the event, please contribute a raffle prize.

Christmas Fundraiser -
United NationsPresident Bill introduced past president Umesh to speak about Rotary Day in the United Nations which is headquartered in New York City. Umesh noted that the UN has worked closely to eradicate polio from our world. Thanks to this joint effort there were  only 52 new polio cases in the world in 2015. Umesh presented a brief history of the UN. Today the UN is made up of 193 countries. Over the past seven decades the UN has been a powerful instrument for promoting world peace. & for protecting the rights of individuals.
S.T.E.P Program & Students - (Short Term Exchange Program) STEP Chair Karen Price to introduce our two STEP students. Karen explained how our Short Term Exchange Program, STEP, is set up & how effective it is in giving our students experiences in distant lands. Karen fulsomely praised Hope Glowacki & Adriana Marshall for being so industrious & focused.
Hope Glowacki, a senior in SCHS, spent her summer moths in Sicily. Hope painted a vivid picture of Sicily’s beauty & warm climate. Hope praised the Sicilians for their generous hospitality. Hope thanked our club for giving her the opportunity to visit Sicily through our STEP program.
Adrianna Marshall is a senior in SCHS. Adriana related how much she enjoyed spending her summer months in Southern Germany. With her new German friends Adriana hiked through Germany’s fabled Black Forest. Adriana noted that she did not have enough time to learn much of the German language.  Adriana’s praised her German hosts for their good natured kindness. [Gemutlichkeit]. Adrianna joined Hope in thanking our club for the opportunity to participate in our STEP program. Unencumbered by A/V our poised STEP students Hope & Adrianna made scintillating presentations.
