PRESIDENTS' CORNER... by co-Pres., Mary
 "Going the Extra Mile"
It is a beautiful Central New York summer day this Saturday.  I hope everyone is taking time to enjoy it.

As  with the Pancake Breakfast, Rotarians are stepping up to support our "Feed the Community" fundraiser and we are getting closer to our goal.  Each year the breakfast is a 100% club effort. Because we are a club that always "goes the extra mile" let's make sure we all participate and exceed our goal!  Spread the word to friends and neighbors near and far, after all, people don't even need to leave their houses this year.  (altho, I am betting that most would like to!)

We are having some good Zoom meetings and I'm hoping that more can join us next week .  Dave Lee has provided some fine pointers.
See you on Thursday. Mary

Jan Jurgensen - Our condolences go out to Rotarian Ralph Jurgensen and his family for the death of Jan last week.  The funeral was a private affair with the family.  A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church when allowed.  In the meantime please stay in touch with Ralph and lend support at his time of need during the days ahead.
LAST WEEK -Jun 04, 2020 ... by Ward
co-President Mary opened and hosted the Zoom meeting. The following was discussed.
  • Changing of the Guard - is schedule for June 25th, and Robin will organize a picnic at the American Legion.  More on this next week.
  • Food Drive
    • Letter of thanks in the Press Observer  from Judy Gilston, for the Skaneateles Food Pantry
    • Funds that were received in addition to food items have been distributed to the Skaneateles and Spafford Food Pantry
  • Highway Clean up - last Saturday morning was very successful with a record turnout of volunteers.
  • Virtual Fundraiser - has be extremely successful to date, with Lori and crew getting out massive PR.  Members are encouraged to email and contact friends to participate.  We have had 74 donors to date, which includes 22 of our members.  Mary is asking each member to participate, as we would with the breakfast.  Kudos to Tyler and his crew of Lori, Lee & Mary. (see update below)
  • Skaneateles Outreach - Mary will attempt to get Jackie McConnaghy, of the Skan Outreach, as our speaker next week.
  • C of C Alaska Northern Lights trip - It was suggested that a full presentation of the Alaska trip be made at a meeting in the future.  This will be scheduled for for June 18th meeting with Rosemary Mondo and Hillary Fenner along with a Collette Tour representative.
  • Zoom Instructions - Mary gave Kudos to David Lee for putting together the Zoom instructions.
  • District Grant - has been completed and submitted by Dale Drake.  We should know sometime in July of its acceptance.
Membership/Attendance:  - 49 Active members - 14  attending (a few Audio only folks)
Guests: Rosemary Mondo & Jason Armijo (prospective members)
Father's Day Fundraiser
The finish line is in sight! ... by Lori
With just under two weeks before Father’s Day, we are well on our way to making our goal of $10,000.  The on-line total through RallyUp is now over $7,000.  Help us in the final stretch!
The club and the community have pulled together for this important fundraiser, with 25 Rotarians having given so far. We are counting on additional Rotarians to help us reach and exceed our goal.
Thanks to all for your support. Keep sharing the information with family, friends and neighbors.  Here is the link:  https://go.rallyup.com/feedskan
If you would prefer to write a check:  Write checks to the Skaneateles Rotary Foundation (with “feed the community” in the memo) and mail to P.O. Box 316.
As a reminder, here is how it works:
  • Go to  https://go.rallyup.com/feedskan  for the easy details.
  • Choose a donation amount, or create your own amount.  At checkout, watch for the tip option and delete if you choose. This is a free service that will attempt to earn money by asking for a tip. Feel free, but please know that the tips do not count toward fundraising.
If you would prefer to write a check:  Write checks to the Skaneateles Rotary Foundation (with “feed the community” in the memo) and mail to Skaneateles Rotary Foundation, P.O. Box 316, Skaneateles, NY 13152
