Skaneateles Rotarians Give Generously to The Rotary Foundation
Our membership has made significant contribution to The Rotary Foundation during the first six months of this Rotary year. We have met and exceeded both our Annual Giving (AG) and PolioPlus (PP) goals by 133% and 462%. respectively. That's $6,800 AG and $9,245 PP for a Total of $16,047 as of 12/31/19. With the 2 for 1 Gates Foundation match, that amounts to $27,738 for Polio Eradication.
That's the good news! Of our 52 members, 25 have participated, which leaves us with 27 more to participate if we reach RF Chair, Bill's Every Rotary Every Year goal. We also have matching club funds for the next 7 donors. So ... if you have not done so yet, please consider a gift to The Rotary Foundation yet this Rotary year. .... by Ward
Rotary and ShelterBox celebrate the power of partnership
Rotary International announced last June a three-year partnership renewal with its disaster relief project partner, ShelterBox. For almost 20 years, this unique humanitarian alliance has supported families with a place to call home after disaster.
Rotary is a global network whose members take action to make a lasting difference in their communities – and worldwide. ShelterBox provides emergency shelters and other essential items to support families who have lost their homes in disaster.
What began as a local connection with one Cornish Rotary Club has led to an international movement that’s provided 140,000 ShelterBox family tents or 390,000 ShelterKits worldwide to date (a value of over $71 million).
First adopted as a millennium project by the Rotary Club of Helston-Lizard in 2000, the support of Rotary members and clubs around the world saw ShelterBox become Rotary’s Project Partner in Disaster Relief in 2012. Since then, the partnership has helped transform ShelterBox into an internationally recognized disaster relief charity, supporting families with emergency shelter after disaster.
The partnership extends far beyond financial support. Around 1,000 Rotary members are involved in ShelterBox as volunteers, staff or response team members. And clubs worldwide offer valuable, practical assistance to help ShelterBox reach more families fleeing disaster or conflict.
This is a project that our club (SRC) and the Interact Club has proudly participated in of the past few years. Stand Proud of Your Service, Skaneateles Rotarians.
