Your Board of Directors met last Thursday, May 12th and the following is a summary of discussions points and resolutions.
SRF Review - Kathy Crelot reviewed the Skaneateles Rotary Foundation's income & expenses, YTD.
Noel Gettman Resignation - Noel's resignation has be accepted with regrets. Noel is relocating to the DC area to care for a sick daughter.
2016-2017 President-Elect (2017-2018 President) - Still Searching for a candidate. Interested? See Bill Huba.
2016-17 Directors - Terms for Amy Tormey, Charlie McElroy, John Moran & Roy MacDonald expire on June 30, 2016. The 2017-18 Rotarians filling in these director slots are: Roy MacDonald, Mary Giroux, Suzette Grinnals, and one more to be selected (interested?) - See Cheryl
Tree Billing - We have approved the payment to the Skaneateles SR club for our share of the cost of three trees planted in the Spring of 2016 by the Youth Exchange and Interact students. The tree supplier was a bit slow on the billing.
Programs - The updated program schedule was review by Prez. Cheryl and web-calendar to be updated by Ward to match the new schedule.
Skaneateles Lake Association - A donation was approved in leu of a membership fee.
After The Ball - A donation was make to help support the this Annual High School Senior event.

Spring Fling - Amy Tormey reminded the members that the Spring Fling will be held on Thursday, 5/19, starting at 6 p.m. at The Lodge. She encouraged everyone to bring friends, family, etc.
Pancake Ticket Sales - John Moran passed around the sign-up sheet for selling Pancake Tickets at Tops.
Maple Syrup for Polio Eradication - Ward showed the Maple Syrup, supplied by VVS HS, F.F.A., that will be sold this year at the breakfast, with proceeds going to Polio Eradication.
Sean O'Keefe - Cheryl reminded members that the Skaneateles Area Chamber of Commerce is welcoming Sean O’Keefe who will present, “Space: What’s Keeping Us From the Final Frontier?” This event will be held on Tuesday, May 24th, at 5:30 p.m. at the Skaneateles Country Club. If interested, you may contact the Chamber.
Happy Birthdays - Cheryl wished Dana Coye & Noel Gettman belated Happy Birthdays. Happy Birthday wishes went out to Gard Lorey, Bob Holloway, and Chuck O’Neil as well.
Veterans Drug Addiction - Michael Henty is the founder and executive director of Ministro Ministries which opened the doors of the Case Mansion to veterans and those in need of affordable housing. One of the biggest problems Mike encountered was housing for people struggling with addiction. He reported that 1 out of 7 people in the U.S. have an addiction problem. He spoke about the HA (Heroin Anonymous) meetings that started 4-5 months ago in Auburn. This is the only HA meeting site in the area. He created “The Underground” in Auburn to combat the addiction epidemic that has plagued our communities and taken far too many lives. It is a café during the day and a NA bar or club in the evening that hosts NA, SA, HA, and AA meetings. He sees it as a place to socialize after the meetings. Mike offers a unique program called “WARMS your heart Recovery”. This program creates avenues for people with addictions to express themselves. Mike believes that within a year they will be self-sustaining and the funding promised in the Comprehensive Recovery Act which was one of the fastest bills passed by Congress, will enable them to operate the program. Mike encouraged members to learn more about the program, volunteer, or donate to this important project.

PANCAKE BREAKFAST - COM'N SOON!.....

Believe it or not, the annual Father's Day Pancake Breakfast is only 5 weeks away! Father's Day this year is June 19th, so please mark that date in ink on your calendar, as well as Friday, June 17th AM and Saturday, June 18th AM for set-up, and Monday, June 20th AM afterwards for tear down. This year will mark our 48th consecutive year holding our Club's biggest fund raising event and we need every Rotarian to participate to insure its continued success! Our event has raised cumulatively over $500,000 since our first Breakfast in 1968, adjusted for inflation! So please schedule to be in town that weekend to help out at this "fun filled" community event! This service project, which supports many worthy causes, only works if every Rotarian makes a full commitment!

OUR 2015-16 ROTARY YOUTH EXCHANGE
LONG TERM EXCHANGE PROGRAM
Outbound - The 2015-16 Rotary Youth Exchange Outbound students have departed for a year as exchange students abroad. Sofia Darovskikh, to Finland, and Zach Driscoll to Germany. We wish them all the best on their "adventure of a lifetime".
Inbound - student have moved to their third host families: Vincent , from France, hosted by Mike & Mary Hearn, and Daniela from Chile, hosted by Alice & Gerry Purdy.
SHORT TERM EXCHANGE PROGRAM (STEP)
Hope Glowacki has spent a few weeks in Sicily, Italy and her host sister, Irene returned with her to Skaneateles for a few weeks.
Adrianna Marshall traveled to Thuringia, Germany and his host sister, Constanze, returned to Skaneateles for an exchange.
