Thanks to Coery Bauman for stepping up to be the Club's new Community Service Chair. As a club our goal is to have at least one community service project each month. If you have any ideas for a project, please contact Corey at 949-233-7608 or corey@thebond1835.com.
We enjoyed "Thai Night" with dinner prepared by Chef Ed. Thanks Ed........a great dinner!
Clams and Corn Time
Thanks to all the club members who signed up to serve Clams and Corn at the upcoming Firemen's Field Days. If you need to change your slot or have a question please call or text Bill Buterbaugh at 703-626-8575.
Front Desk Duty!!!
Conner and Chuck W are the scheduled front desk members for our next club meeting on Sept 4th. Remember that if you will not be able to attend the meeting you are scheduled for it is your responsibility to find a replacement.
Last Meeting: August 21, 2025
The Beginning: Andy led us in the Pledge.
Announcements:
Andy thanked everyone for cereal donations to the Food Pantry. Donations are much appreciated and help to reduce the Food Pantry's expenses.
Andy also thanked Larry and Doug for hosting last weeks Happy Hour. Lots of comradery and great munchies!
Mary thanked everyone that helped pack leftover books from the library book sale. 242 boxes packed in 90 minutes at a rate of 2.7 boxes per minute. Well done!!
Dillon updated us on the Duck Dash. On August 31 the Duck (our very own Joe Bianculli) and Duck Dash friends will march in the Labor Day parade. You are all invited to join the group. T-shirts and candy to throw will be provided. Also, save the dates: September 25 in the evening for numbering of the ducks and September 27 for the Duck Dash event. Dillon also had freshly printed tickets for sale. Club members are encouraged to purchase and sell tickets.
The Program: Bill C introduced Chuck Williams (yes, Chuck, our very own club member). Chuck worked as a Ceramic Engineer at Dow Chemical and acquired a passion for all things glass. He told us about glass recycling and its intricacies. To reuse glass colors matter and bits of non-glass items such as metal are troublesome. Different types of glass have different compositions. It was surely an interesting talk about a common item.
50-50: Bill Conole was the happy winner of the 50-50 but alas, did not draw the Queen of Hearts. The pot stands at more than $125 and there are only 39 cards left to draw from!
Five Way Test: The meeting ended with the Five Way Test led by Chuck Williams, a "very glassy guy"!.
The Skaneateles Food Pantry can use some help! One of the items the Pantry always needs is breakfast cereal so we're asking that members bring a box of cereal to each club meeting. It's an item that flies off the shelves each week so your help with this would be greatly appreciated. And, thanks to club members for this week's donations which stocked the shelves!
President Lizzy Martin sent a message saying the main CNY Rotary Facebook page was shut down by Facebook so everything has been moved to a new group called CNY Rotary News Network. Please check out the new facebook page! This is where everything from the news network, leadership team, and events are shared.
New Facebook Page!!!
The Club has brand new Facebook + Instagram pages. You can Google Skaneateles Rotary Facebook to find it. Be sure to check it out, like it and share it with your friends!
