Last Week May 4, 2023 .... by Andy
The evening started with a happy hour where attendees enjoyed mint juleps and Oaks Lillies while mingling. Here are a couple of things I learned at the happy hour…
Dana Coye didn’t actually get proofed while getting his drink.
Marv and Patti Langley are now addicted to pickleball and have been practicing all winter in South Carolina.
During dinner I learned that Roberta Williams, Chad Martin and I have all had occurrences of meeting local people in unexpected places. Maybe the Twilight Zone is real.
During the program put together by Bill Buterbaugh, I also learned a lot.Dana was to celebrate his 99th birthday on the 5th. Happy Birthday Dana! Youth exchange is back, alive and well. Our outbound students are eager to get outside the “Skaneateles bubble”. We wish them a fun, safe and educational year abroad!
The youth exchange team anchored by Lee Bennett, John O’Sullivan and Lori Ruhlman and Jay Stith are a dedicated bunch. Many thanks to them for resurrecting Youth Exchange after Covid and driving this program forward.
Patti Carey and Ami Rolleri were bestowed with Paul Harris Fellowships, in recognition of their many contributions to the Skaneateles community as a whole.
Ed Evans, Lori Ruhlman, Roberta Williams, Danny Roach, Chuck O’Neill and Jack Hyatt demonstrated their commitment to the Rotary cause by each adding to their Paul Harris contribution status.
Ayham Boucher was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow because of his stepping up to be co-president with Ed and continued above and beyond participation in service projects. Congratulations!
Ed led us in the 4 way test to end the dinner and meeting. But, in compliance with the 5th test, it was a fun evening. Thanks to all for attending.

Please join family and friends for a tribute that will begin at 3:30 p.m. with music, toasts and memories — and continue more casually to include appetizers, drinks and time to talk until 6 p.m. We will remember her work in Rotary, and we will highlight our exchange program and the new Youth Exchange Scholarship established in her memory.
Food Drive a Great Success!!!
Club members came together on a rainy Saturday morning to drop off food collections at Ed's house on Saturday morning, April 29th. Ed treated everyone to freshly made eggs, bacon and sausage using his new grills. After much consultation and discussion, it was decided that we would try the grills out at our pancake breakfast this year. Once all the food was dropped off Ed and crew delivered it to the Skaneateles and Spafford pantries. Thanks to Andy for organizing our fourth annual food drive!
Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary!
