PRESIDENTS' CORNER ... by Pres., Bill Conole
Prior to dinner Ward gave our club a beautiful banner from the Rotary International Convention held in Toronto, Canada. Ward & Umesh recently attended this convention. Ward presented President Bill with one his last remaining, hand crafted wine stopper. Our guest Rotarian, Kim Meyers, from the Vestal, NY Rotary, was impressed with the wine stopper & the fact that Ward raised over $13,000 for Polio Plus, Kim asked for the wine stopper to show her Vestal Rotary Club Ward's creative idea for raising money for Polio. President Bill & Past President Mary presented a program on the many benefits Rotarians can receive from attending the Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) Chuck O'Neil aced the RLI Quiz by promptly & correctly answering all of the quiz questions. The next RLI Program is on September 22nd at the VVS HighSchool.

The Beginnings
Introductions - President Bill opened the meeting with the introduction of Kim Myers, a fellow high school alumni. Kim is also a fellow Rotarian, visiting Skaneateles from the Vestal Rotary Club. Roberta Williams introduced Thomas Boxho, former exchange student from Belgium and Marina Maistrello from Italy. Thomas has been a frequent and very welcome visitor to our club.
Polo for Preemies - Bill reported that several club members attended the Prequel to Polo for Preemies last Thursday evening at The Krebs and reminded everyone about the event on Sunday the 29th of July beginning at 1:00 at the Polo Field.
Banner Presentation - Ward Vuillemot and Umesh Patil attended this year's International Rotary Conference in Toronto. Ward presented a banner from the event to our club and he also presented his final Polio Plus winestopper to Bill Conole.
The Program - Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI)
President Bill monitored a very difficult quiz about RLI..Our members were quick at the draw, especially Chuck O'Neil, and answered all of the questions correctly. Bill encouraged club members to take advantage of the September 22, 2018 RLI at VVS. RLI is a grassroots, multi district leadership development program whose mission is to strengthen Rotary through quality leadership education. Levels I, II, and III are offered as well as the Graduate level which will cover motivating volunteers and membership issues. Ward pointed out that the program is offered world wide and the topics covered are the same at all locations. There are two $40 cash rebate coupons available to Skaneateles members that enroll in the next couple of weeks. Mary Giroux has the coupons
