Worthy Cause Update - Cheryl Silvestrini updated the BOD on current worthy cause consideration, which will be acted upon at a subsequent meeting.
Halloween / Haunted Hallways - The BOD approved the annual funding of cider and donuts for this event.
Dictionary Project -Prez. Mary updated the board on the successful distribution of dictionaries at the State Street School, and thanked Bill Huba for his leadership of the project.
Program Schedule - reviewed and discussed by Bill Conole. Bill urged members to continue to send program ideas his way.-
Shelter Box - Cathy Powell gave an update on the district grant for two Shelter Boxes, A display will be at the high school on Oct. 23rd. with local press invited.
50th Pancake Breakfast - plan was discussed by Mary, along with the inclusion of the Welch Allyn Foundation PR support proposal. The Board agreed to accept the proposed plans..
Christmas Basket Dinner - leadership and proposed planned we discussed. More to come on this from the event planning committee.
Children's books - Cheryl announced that she has located additional children's book and is organizing a packing party for Saturday, Oct 28th.
BOCES - Nov. 9th - meeting is being finalized by Prez. Mary. Mary has invited the Sunrise Club to join us. The meeting starting time will be 6 PM, and cost $20.
Flag Project - was discussed with no action taken.
Next BOD Meeting - November 16th. at 5 PM at the Sherwood.

The second drawing of the Club 200 fund raising raffle occurred last week ... and the winner ... were (drum roll here) ... Dan Roche and Trapper Coville.
200 Tickets at $20 each are being sold to members, friends & neighbors between now and October when 10 tickets (2 per week) will be drawn weekly with the winners receiving $50 each. The winning tickets will be recycled into the draw-bin for next drawing on the same day or following weeks. So ..... multiple chances to win on a single ticket or even twice in on same day, if your luck is really running high.
The whole event ends on Nov 16th, with two tickets will be drawn for $250 & $500. The two $50 draw dates are: Oct. 5, 12, 19, 26 & Nov 2, and the $250 & $500 tickets will be drawn on Nov 16. ... and ... you do not have to be present to win!
IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO PARTICIPATE - Cheryl Silvestrini still has the tickets for sale over. Do not miss out on this opprotrunity as it is limited to 200 tickets.
This is fun way for our Club to raise up $2,750 to use for worthy causes throughout the year. We can only make the maximum amount ($2,750) if ALL 200 tickets are sold. The key is for ALL members to participate in selling (and buying) tickets.

This week we heard from two young people benefitting from a Rotary sponsored program, Maddie Boherer (through her Mom, Connie) who is currently in Brazil as an exchange student and Luke Rathgeb who attended RYLA this year. Both Maddie and Luke spoke passionately about their experiences. Both Maddie and Luke are the future of our world. Maddie's Letter: Maddie Boehrer's mother, Connie, read a letter from her about her Rotary Exchange experience in Brazil. Maddie say Rotary played a big role in her life and her family's, as her brother and sister were also exchange students. Maddie wants to thank Rotary for the opportunity. She knew nothing about Brazil including Portuguese is the primary language. She says the people are very friendly. Because of Rotary, she has formed incredible new relationships, including her host Mom. (see President's Corner above to a link to Maddie's letter)
Luke's RYLA Experience: We also heard from Luke Rathgab, a senior at Skaneateles High School who attended RYLA. Luke said this was an amazing experience and that he would like to be part of Rotary when he is older. He said that attending RYLA made a great impression that he will remember for the rest of his life.

MEETING at CAYUGA ONONDAGA BOCES
The SRC's November 9th meeting will be held at the Cayuga Onondaga BOCES facility, in Auburn. The culinary students will be preparing dinner for us and there will be a tour afterwards. The menu will be:
Fall salad with roasted pumpkin seeds, cheddar cheese oven cured tomatoes, red onion and maple vinaigrette
Salmon Picatta with lemon blanc sauce
Chicken cordon bleu
Herb roasted red potatoes
Root vegetable medley
Chocolatte mousse tarts with fresh berries
