Our club's updated Constitution is to voted on at our Sept. 19th meeting. The essential change allows for make-ups to be applied to any meeting within the current Rotary year vs + or - 14 days from the make-up. See page 5, Article 10, Section 1, para (d) of the Proposed Constitution, which can be accessed on the website under Club By-Laws & Constitution, in the Site Pages, on the left side of the Home page. A Login is not required. The definition of make-ups can be found on page 20 of your current club directory.

D7150 Rotary Leadership Institute - Sept. 28th ... by Prez Doug
The D7150 Rotary Leadership Institute is being held in Verona on Sept. 28, 2019 and with it a wonderful importunity take your next step up the ladder of RLI training and information sharing. (remember; learning never stops in our cycle of life)
If you have not participated in the past, "try it, you'll like it".
If you have completed one of two of the Parts, now a opportunity to step up to the next level.
If you have completed Parts I, II & III, you are not done (there's more). The graduate sessions change each year. This year it will be focused on Fundraising and project development, which we Skantarians have had much dialog. This is a great chance to learn new techniques and share with others of the: what, how and when.
Cost: $80 - BUT WAIT. Your BOD has approved to 100% reimbursement following your attendance of the event.
Oh BTW, Ward has promised those Skaneateles Rotarians that attend RLI in this Rotary year a hand-crafted bottle stopper with a RLI logo mounted in it.
Your Board of Directors approved the funding of a ShelterBox to assist in the Hurricane Dorian disaster relief. The ShelterBox organization if a "boots on the ground" Rotary sponsored relief effort that we have supported in the past in similar needs in our world. Stand Proud, Skantarians for your continued support of our world neighbors in need.

The Beginnings:
Skaneateles Citizen of the Year - President Doug opened the meeting by announcing that our fellow Rotarian, Dave Lee, is being honored as one of the Skaneateles 2019 Citizen's of the Year! Dave has contributed a great deal to our community over the years through his active involvement in a number of community organizations.
Thank You- Welcome Picnic - Karen Price passed around a sign up sheet for the September 12th Thank You- Welcome Picnic at St. James Church. If you haven't signed up please let Karen know and all Rotarians are asked to bring an appetizer. Please invite friends, family and neighbors that worked on the pancake breakfast.
Baltimore Woods fundraiser - Dale Drake gave us an update on the results of the Baltimore Woods fundraiser and thanked club members for their support.
The Program
Skaneateles YMCA - Helen Williams, Health and Wellness Director for the Auburn and Skaneateles YMCA spoke about the Livestrong Program. Founded in 1997 the Livestrong Foundation provides programs for cancer survivors to reclaim their lives. Research has shown that diet and activity are important in maintaining physical health. The Livestrong Program is a 12 week exercise program for cancer survivors provided free of charge. The Y runs the program in the Fall and Winter. Participation in the program leads to an increased quality of life and decreased fatigue. Helen said that we could help by spreading the word about the program, volunteering to help, or by becoming an instructor. Helen also thanked our club for its ongoing support of the YMCA.

Summary Notes of SEP 05,2019 Meeting... by Mary
Your Board of Directors met last week and the following is a short summary of discussions points and resolutions. (complete current and past minutes may be viewed on the website - member sign-in is required)
Board minutes of Aug. 2019 were approved. They may be found on the club's website.
Worthy Cause contributions to the Skaneateles Community Band and for Dorian hurricane relief efforts in the Bahamas were approved.
Baltimore Woods results from their fundraiser were reviewed by Dale Drake and thanks was expressed for our Club's participation and volunteer efforts.
Resignation of Nick Brewster was accepted with regrets.
Financials were reviewed by Marv Langley.
Club 200 Raffle was suspended for the 2019/2020 year due to low ticket sales.
World Polio Day which is on October 24th was discussed. Bill Conole will look into having a speaker on the subject of polio for our meeting on the 24th. President Doug Powell asked for suggestions to mark this special day.
Grant suggestions were requested from Board members for the 2020/2021 year. Mary Giroux will brief the club on October 3rd about the grant process and ask members for their ideas.
International Women's Day proceeds were discussed and an amount will be donated to First Vote-First Amendment. The remainder of proceeds are still under consideration.
Annual Christmas Dinner fundraiser was discussed. Cheryl Silvestrini is in the process of organizing this event and recruiting club members for various tasks.
Council on Legislation/Attendance-makeup Requirements were discussed and the Board approved changing that make-ups are allowed to be used anytime during the year vs the current + or _ 14 days. This change reflects an emphasis club community service project over simply club meetings. The change will required a constitution change to be posted and will be put up for a vote by general membership.
Club Meeting Structure was discussed and further discussion will ensue.
Honorary Membership was approved for Bill Allyn and Linda Quick for the 2019/2020 year.
Hurricane Dorian Disaster Relief - Voted via email to fund a ShelterBox for Hurricane Relief.
RLI Reimbursement - Approved via email to reimburse members there RLI fee once that have attended the RLI event.
Bottle Stopper Challenge
As an incentive for Skaneateles Rotarians to visit other Rotary clubs to explore new ideas of community service and to meet new Rotary friends, Ward has offered to supply a hand-crafted bottle stopper, topped with an RI pin insert, to each member who visits four different District 7150 clubs, or one club outside of our district any place in our world. (limited to one stopper per member and offer ends June 30, 2020)
