LAST WEEK - Jun 25, 2020 ... by Mary Giroux Membership/Attendance: - 47 Active members - 26 attending Guests: Anne Lee Program: Changing of the Guard & PHF Presentations  Club members gathered at the American Legion pavilion for the first time since early March. Masks and social distancing were practised as members enthusiastically caught up with each other. Our Rotary tradition of reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, singing "America the Beautiful" and saying grace in person was refreshing. Tyler Lorey summarized the results of our "Feed the Community" fundraiser. Over $17,000 was raised with over 175 donations being made. Twelve participants were chosen at random to receive Chamber of Commerce gift certificates. Janet Aaron was the recipient of the $500 gift certificate and she generously asked that it be broken down into ten $50 gift certificates to be given to Skaneateles Outreach. Janet's generosity and the generosity of the Skaneateles community was overwhelming and we are so grateful. Thanks to Tyler, Lee and Lori for all of your hard work in making this a successful project. Bill Buterbaugh presented Paul Harris awards to two of our members. Craig Froelich received the PHF+1 award and Chuck O'Neil received the PHF+6 award. The generosity of Craig and Chuck in supporting the worldwide efforts of Rotary is greatly appreciated. Mary Giroux passed the gavel to our new President, Dave Lee. Dave recalled his fond memories of the many pancake breakfasts he attended in his younger years, his father's commitment to Rotary and his acquaintance with almost all of our past presidents. Dave showed his enthusiasm for the upcoming year which will present some challenges and changes. Thanks Dave for taking the lead! Dinner was enjoyed by all, interrupted by a downpour that necessitated a quick move under the pavilion! Thank you Robin, Ed E. and Bill B. for organizing the event. |

Our club’s “Feed the Community” fundraiser was a resounding success, with $17,785 raised for the food pantries and the outreach office. And that isn’t even counting the monetary donations received when we collected tons of non-parishables during the food drive.
