TABLES for CLEAR PATH FOR VETERANS
On Tuesday, June 5th, seven Skaneateles Rotarians made their way to Clear Path for Veterans, in Chittenango, NY to cut and assemble two 8 foot picnic tables to be used on the Clear Path grounds. They were met by Matt Foster, CP grounds maintenance manager and a volunteer veteran, who supplied the equipment and direction for the project. The materials and labor were supplied by Skaneateles Rotarians; Mary, Robin, Roy, David, Danny, Marv & Ward. The day was successful, enjoyable and an eye opener of what Clear Path has, and is, accomplishing for our veterans. Thanks to Mary & Ward for organizing.  To learn more of the Clear Path for Veterans project, facility and their mission, visit their website at:

PACK'N FOR THE CHILDREN OF THE WORLD -  .... by Ward Vuillemot
Mark Your Calendars - On Sunday, Jul 8, 2018 at 2 PM, the Skaneateles Rotarians and friends will be selecting and packing children's and reference books at the Annual Skaneteles Library book sales, located next to the Village Hall, in the old fire barn.  Once the book sales is over at 2 PM, we will be permitted to glean the books for the CNY Books for the World project.  The selected books will eventually make their way to the children in 3rd world countries via the Rotarian BFTW project.  The gleaning and packing typically takes from one to two hours.  See ye there!

LAST WEEK: .... by Bill Conole
THE BEGINNINGS
T-Shirts — President Mary presented members with our commemorative 50thAnniversary Fathers Day Pancake Breakfast T-Shirts.
Thank you notes - Mary read thank you notes from several groups thanking our club for our support.
Sherrill Rotary Fund Raiser — Mary noted that the Sherrill Rotary Club is having a fund raiser to support Diabetes on Saturday July 29th.
Polio Plus — Ward has raised over $11,800 for Polio Plus by giving his handcrafted wine stoppers PolioPlus donors.
Clear Path Picnic Tables - Ward thanked our Clear path Picnic Table Team. Our team built two sturdy picnic tables & had a good time. Ward thanked Mary for the excellent lunch.
THE PROGRAM - Planning for 50th Annual Pancake Breakfast
Signs & Mascot - Chuck O’Neil reported that the lawn signs are in place & the sandwich signs are ready to be placed on the 16th. Chuck noted that when he scheduled the mascot for the Pancake Breakfast, the mascot said he lived in Elmira. Thinking he mean’t nearby Elmira, NY, Chuck graciously said that we would pay his travel expenses.  Chuck gulped when the mascot told him he lives in far off Elmira, Ontario Canada.
Daily Schedule - President Mary presented a day by work schedule for our Pancake Breakfast. On Friday June 15that 8AM we will pack up our breakfast equipment from Dave Lee’s barn & transport it the Austin Park Pavillion. Dave Lee, Dan Roach & Jack Emmer are heading up this project. Jack Emmer will have lacrosse players at Dave Lee’s, so only a few people are needed there. Mary asked members who are available to come to the pavilion at 8:30 on the 15thto help us set up the grills & tables. We will need as many members as possible for this large set up project.
Saturday June 16thMary asked members to come to the pavilion at 8AM to finalize setting up everything for the breakfast. With a good turnout this project can be completed in early afternoon.
Sunday June 17th – Mary asked members to report to the pavilion by 7 AM. Robin Jowaisas stressed how important it is for members to stay as long as possible on Sunday afternoon to pitch in & complete the breakdown of the equipment & tables. If everyone pitches in we’ll all be done by 3 or 4 PM.
Monday June 18th — A crew of 10-15 be will be needed to pack up the equipment & return it to Dave Lee’s barn.
Responsibility & Assignment Roster - Mary carefully went over the responsibility & assignment roster giving the Co-Chairs & team members assigned to each pancake breakfast task. Mary thanked our Breakfast Chair Robin Jowaisas & our Vice Chair Bill Butterbaugh for their assistance in planning & coordinating our 2018 Breakfast. Mary noted that this is our club’s major annual community event. It is a large undertaking but it brings our club & our community together in a fun filled celebratory event.
50/50 - Was won by  Gard.  Aiming to pluck the queen of spades, Gard instead drew the 9 of hearts.
