Meal Selection and Cost - The Board of Directors met on the 13th of this month and two important issues were discussed. The board voted unanimously to adopt a new meal plan with the Sherwood Inn. Our host will continue to provide us with the usually wonderful meals, but will add three alternatives. These alternatives will be the same every week and will include a chicken dish, Fish, and a meatless salad. There will be no need to call ahead to order. Please let the wait staff know when you arrive that you wish one of the alternatives, this will give the kitchen time to prepare your meal. There will also be an increase to cost of the meal effective next week. There has not been an increase in the cost of our meals in six plus years. The new cost will be fifteen dollars.
Semi-Annual Dues - Another issue was discussed, but tabled until we meet in September. The Treasure’s report showed that we are operating in the red. Our operational costs have been rising, and we have been using Happy Dollars to supplement costs instead of using them for worthy causes. Our Rotary International dues have also increased. In order to bring our account back into the black the board is considering raising our membership dues from one hundred and thirty dollars to one hundred and fifty dollars. When the board meets in September we will take up this issue, and any increase will be effective January 1, 2016. Our last dues increase was for $10 semi-annually on January 2012. BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING SUMMARY

Your BOD directors met last week on Aug 13th. The following items were discussed:,
Cell phones for Incoming Youth Exchange - Lee Bennett suggested that club make a monthly contribution to the students to off set this cost. He will check the other D7150 hosting clubs to see how they are handling this and report back at the next BOD meeting with a recommendation.
Contributions approved for: ALS, Syracuse SR RC Youth Festival & Todd's Fund
Open 2015-16 positions - VP, PR Chair & Vice Chair of the Pancake committee. Prez Bill asked each to talk it up at the tables and see if there are members out there willing to step up to these positions.
Meal costs and selection changes - The inn has asked us to review the "special choices" being exercised by some of our members, and the current cost of $12. The recommendation that our meal fees be increased to $15, that three options offered beyond the weekly menu of; fish, chicken or salad. These option would remain the same through out the year. Motion made and passed. (see Prez Bill's message above)
Club Operating funds - reviewed by Duane Weaver. We currently are falling a bit short, and Duane suggested that we may want to consider an increase in dues.
Possible due increase - Pres Bill to explore with membership and have a recommendation at the next BOD meeting.
Jack Emmer applied for, was granted an attendance waver under the 85 rule. (age + years in Rotary)
Bill Pavlus' resignation was accepted
Ed Cocoran's status was moved from Active to Honorary.
2015-16 Club Rotary Foundation Goals - $6,200 for Annual Giving and $2,000 for PolioPlus, with $1,500 matching dollars from the club to be matched at $50 per each of the initial 30 members contributing $100 or more to the Rotary Foundation.
Meeting acoustics - is less than best if you are not near the speaker. Duane to look into the cost of a small portible sound system and report at the next BOD meeting.
We Have a Public Relations Chair - Roy MacDonald stepped up to the plate and volunteer to be our 2015-16 PR Chair. If you have an interest in serving on him committee, by contact him .... and .... our many thanks to Roy for taking on the task.

Dave Wilber, Skaneateles Community Band Director - Bill Conole introduced our speaker Dave Wilber, the Director of the Skaneateles Community Band [SCB] by thanking Dave & his band for their faithful support of our club’s annual Pancake Breakfast. Bill noted that Dave recently retired after teaching music in our Skaneateles Middle School for 31 years. For the past 3 years he has served as director of the SCB. Dave opened his presentation by briefly reviewing the history of the SCB.
The band was founded 33 years ago & it’s 1st Director was Howard Kelly. Today the band has 60 members, including Rotarian & trumpet player Mary Giroux. Dave praised the cooperation the band receives from the Village & Town of Skaneateles. Dave described the band’s diverse make up. The band’s 60 member roster includes teachers, doctors, college students & musicians of all ages. Under Dave’s leadership the band prides itself on it’s collegiality.
Dave noted how much the band enjoys playing at our Pancake Breakfast every year. Dave closed by thanking our club for their continued support of the Skaneateles Community Band

The Syracuse Sunrise Rotary Club presents its 2nd Youth Music & Arts Festival on August 15th at the Kellish Music Farm located at 3192 Pompey Center Rd., Manlius, NY. A Rotarian sponsored festival for outstanding young artists. Begins at 12 pm and World Class-Special Concerts 3:30 pm & 7 PM. The 2015-16 Rotary Youth Exchange Outbound students have been selected and will be departing this summer for a year as exchange students abroad. They are: Sofia Darovskikh, going to Finland, and Zach Driscoll going to Germany. We congratulate them upon their selections and wish them all the best on their "adventure of a lifetime".
Our Inbound students will be: Daniela Fadic Contreras, from Chile, and Vincent Lambert form France.
