BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING SUMMARY

Your BOD directors met last week on Oct., 8th. The following items were discussed and acted upon.
Portable PA System - Prez Bill found an inexpensive portable PA/Speaker system to use at meetings and that can be connected to a computer audio output, and will proceed with its purchase
Dictionary / Thesauruses Project: for 3rd and 5th Graders was approved.
Dues Increase - from $65 to $75 per 6 month period was approved and effective January 1st.
Inner City and Children at risk - The need for a focus on projects that focus on children at risk education opportunities was discussed by Charlie McElroy
Rotary Leadership Institute fee reimbursements - were approved for members who attend the RLI training this year.
Honor Flight District Matching grant - project discussed and the need to complete the final report for funds reimbursements from the District.
Honor Flight - District Grant completed .... by Ward
The Skaneateles Rotary Clubs collaborated on a district matching grant to fund the Honor Flight program of Syracuse with $6,000 in funds. These were used, earlier thi month, to send WWII and Korean war veterans to Washington DC to visit the various US armed service monuments. President Bill encouraged everyone to go the Marcellus Rotary Pancake on Sunday October 25th in the Marcellus Fire Department from 8am-12:30pm.
Bill congratulated Ward Vuillemot for successfully sending a large shipment of books to Nigeria. Members gave Ward a hand for coordinating CNY Books For The World.
Bill reminded everyone of the District Foundation Brunch on Sunday Nov 1st in the Traditions at the Links No Syracuse.
Umesh encouraged members to go to the 2016 Rotary Convention in beautiful Seoul, South Korea.
Bill reminded everyone that the CNY Veterans Day Dinner will be held on Nov 11th in the Welch Allyn Lodge. Robin Jowaisas has put together a table for this even.
Bill asked everyone to consider candidates for the open club Vice president’s position.
Bill announced that the Rotary Leadership Institute, RLI, will be held on Saturday October 24th in VVS High School. The RLI sessions are very informative & are a great way to meet other Rotarians from our district. If members can’nt make the 24th there is a RLI in Canandaigua on November 7th.
Ward reminded members that the 90th Eastern Cities Fellowship Dinner will be hosted by the Rochester Rotary Club on Sunday October 18th at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center. Keynote speaker will be Michael McGovern, Past RI VP & RI Polio Plus Chair.
Rotary Christmas Dinner Fund Raiser at SCC is scheduled for December 3rd. Guido van der Ven agreed to chair this function & to revive the Christmas Committee.
Amy Tormey agreed to chair this year’s State Street Elementary School Halloween Party on October 31st. She will work with Karen Price on this.

A leadership and development program to strengthen Rotary clubs through education, collaboration and the exchange of ideas among its future leaders.
A three-part curriculum facilitated by experienced, trained faculty members engaging participants through open discussion, problem solving and creative role-play.
Although not an official program of Rotary International, more than 360 Rotary districts now offer it to their members.

LONG TERM EXCHANGE PROGRAM
Outbound - The 2015-16 Rotary Youth Exchange Outbound students have departed for a year as exchange students abroad. Sofia Darovskikh, to Finland, and Zach Driscoll to Germany. We wish them all the best on their "adventure of a lifetime".
Inbound - students have arrived: Daniela, from Chile, hosted by Cecillia & Rod Stabile, and Vincent Lambert form France, hosted by Charley & Kim Driscoll.
SHORT TERM EXCHANGE PROGRAM (STEP)
Hope Glowacki has spent a few weeks in Sicily, Italy and her host sister, Irene returned with her to Skaneateles for a few weeks.
Adrianna Marshall traveled to Thuringia, Germany and his host sister, Constanze, returned to Skaneateles for an exchange.
