Youth Exchange Update: Bill reported that Clara, our incoming student, has arrived. Host families have been lined up for this year but there is an ongoing effort to recruit host families There was discussion about the exchange program and the club’s ongoing commitment to it.  Currently Jay Stith and Pam Stern work on the program.  John Buterbaugh has volunteered his time also but commitment from additional club members is needed.
Club meetings/structure/officers:
  • A Club Assembly is scheduled for the October 30 meeting to seek input from club members on projects, worthy cause issues, member engagement and the Rotary Foundation vs Skaneateles Rotary Foundation.
  • New committee/board assignments are as follows:

Dillon Brown – Club Treasurer
Gary Girzadas – Foundation Board

Happy Hour:  Details for October and November are pending.  The Seward House is a potential site for November Happy Hour.

New Business:

New Community Service Chair
Thanks to Corey Bauman for stepping up to be the Club's new Community Service Chair.  As a club our goal is to have at least one community service project each month.  If you have any ideas for a project, please contact Corey at 949-233-7608 or corey@thebond1835.com.

Front Desk Duty!!!
Craig and Corey are the scheduled front desk members for our next club meeting on Sept 18th. Remember that if you will not be able to attend the meeting you are scheduled for it is your responsibility to find a replacement.

Last Meeting: Sept 4, 2025
The Beginning:  Andy led us in the Pledge and welcomed our guest, Jim Stewart.
Announcements:
  • Andy thanked everyone for cereal donations to the Food Pantry.  Donations are much appreciated and help to reduce the Food Pantry's expenses.
  • Andy also thanked all the members who helped by serving corn and clams at the Firemen's Field Days.
  • Don't forget the Duck Dash which happens on September 27th.  Purchase tickets if you'd like or sell some tickets to friends.  Contact Dillon for tickets.
  • Next week is Happy Hour at the Legion Pavilion, hosted by Bill C and Mary and on the 18th, we are back at The Sherwood.
  • The Program:  We had two classification talks from members.  Vince Magnotta, originally from Scranton Pa, went to Penn State to earn a degree in Chemical Engineering and then attended the University of Delaware where he earned his Master's degree.  Vince worked in Research and Development and then at Lehigh University.  With the encouragement of his wife, Debbie, they relocated to Central NY and Vince retired in 2014.  He has a son and daughter within 15 minutes.  Besides spending time with family Vince can be found fishing and golfing.  He was introduced to our club by Jamie Ciaccio at a pancake breakfast where Vince says he "was hooked and reeled into our club"!  Amy Ryan grew up in Auburn, the 10th of 14 children.  After working in DC for 2 years she returned to Auburn and answered an ad for a fitness instructor.  She discovered her passion for fitness, wellness and nutrition.  Amy has been a physical education teacher for 21 years, also coaching lacrosse at the college and high school levels.  She credits her brothers with her love of lacrosse.  Amy has five daughters, four of whom are in medical professions.  Her introduction to Rotary was through her friendship with Robin Jowaisas as a hunting buddy and our club's annual Holiday Basket dinner.  Thanks to both Vince and Amy.
  • 50-50:  Bill Conole was the happy winner of the 50-50 (again) but alas, did not draw the Queen of Hearts.  The pot stands at more than $125 and there are only 39 cards left to draw from!
  • Five Way Test:  The meeting ended with the Five Way Test .

Food Pantry Help Wanted -----it's easy!
The Skaneateles Food Pantry can use some help! One of the items the Pantry always needs is breakfast cereal so we're asking that members bring a box of cereal to each club meeting. It's an item that flies off the shelves each week so your help with this would be greatly appreciated. And, thanks to club members for this week's donations which stocked the shelves!
