Andy Stevens opened the meeting.
Minutes: Minutes of the previous meeting were approved.
Financials: Bill reported that the Foundation financials are in good shape.
Worthy Causes: A donation to the Finger Lakes SPCA was approved.
Youth Exchange Update: Bill reported that Clara, our incoming student, has arrived. Host families have been lined up for this year but there is an ongoing effort to recruit host families There was discussion about the exchange program and the club’s ongoing commitment to it. Currently Jay Stith and Pam Stern work on the program. John Buterbaugh has volunteered his time also but commitment from additional club members is needed.
Club meetings/structure/officers:
- A Club Assembly is scheduled for the October 30 meeting to seek input from club members on projects, worthy cause issues, member engagement and the Rotary Foundation vs Skaneateles Rotary Foundation.
- New committee/board assignments are as follows:
Corey Bauman – Community Service Chair
Kelley Wilson – Membership Chair
Dillon Brown – Club Treasurer
Gary Girzadas – Foundation Board
Membership: Jeff LaMarca’s induction as a new member is pending. Conner O’Toole is a prospective member.
Happy Hour: Details for October and November are pending. The Seward House is a potential site for November Happy Hour.
Community Service Projects: Upcoming projects are as follows:
- Dictionary Project was approved. Craig Froelich has handled this for the past couple of years and will do so again. Thanks Craig!
- Duck Dash – September 25th for Duck numbering and September 27th for the event
- Corey Bauman is the new Community Service Chair. Thank you Corey!
Update on Rotary signs: Andy received a quote for new signs when entering Skaneateles. The Sunrise Club will be consulted regarding their expense sharing. It was suggested that the Club account be used to fund this expense.
New Business:
- Bill reported that it is time to begin the annual Rotary Internation solicitation for the Foundation and Polio Plus. Last year we did not meet our Foundation goals and had low participation by club members. Goals need to be set for this year and the effort will kick off earlier this year.
- A date was set for the Holiday Basket Dinner. It will be on December 11th and the Club Holiday celebration will be December 18th. Planning for the Holiday Basket will begin shortly.
