Guests: Hillary Fenner. Skaneateles C of C; Lisa Dietz, Emma + James proprietor.
The Beginnings After welcoming our guests Hillary Fenner and Lisa Dietz, President Dave led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Dave reminded us of the upcoming Winterfest Week organized by the Sunrise Club and urged all of us to support their event as they have given us so much support in the past. He also reminded us that the Salt City Market has their formal opening on Friday, Jan 29th.
The Program Hillary of the Skaneateles, Chamber of Commerce, let us know about the upcoming "Restaurant Week" that will be held in the Village from February 15th through the 21st. It will feature special take out menus and a raffle and will be a nice way to support our local restaurants.
Hillary Fenner introduced Lisa Dietz, proprietor of Emma James boutique in the Village. Lisa recounted the challenges faced when retail shops were ordered closed in March due to the pandemic. Facing uncertainty as to the future of her business Lisa jumped into action reaching out to her clientele using social media and was actually able to expand her business as momentum grew through on line orders. Emma James reopened in June and business thrived both in store and on line. Lisa noted that the pandemic has some silver linings. The care and concern that people have for each other is more evident, innovation grew and the spirit of cooperation and collaboration of local merchants flourished. Thanks to both Hillary and Lisa for helping to make Skaneateles a great place to live. Click on store front for their website.
The Ending Alice Purdy led us in the Four Way Test. See you next week!

Ideas Wanted! ... by Mary, Grants Chair
Each year our club participates in the District's grant program which offers a dollar for dollar match for club projects. We're looking for ideas for a small grant ($500-$1000) for the 2021-2022 year. Funds can be used to fund small scale short term activities that address needs in our community or communities abroad. The project should include Rotarian involvement. In the recent past our grants have helped provide dental equipment to an underserved area, Shelter Boxes, fund for YMCA/Community Center Scholarships, funds for ClearPath for Vets canine program, and construction of paths at Baltimore Woods. If you have an idea let Mary Giroux know (mfgiroux0614@gmail.com). And, there will be Grant Management training on February 27th.
