RI President-elect Announces
2022-23 Presidential Theme ... from RI Web
Rotary International President-elect Jennifer Jones wants members to imagine the possibilities in the change they can make to transform the world.
Jones, a member of the Rotary Club of Windsor-Roseland, Ontario, Canada, revealed the 2022-23 presidential theme, Imagine Rotary, as she urged people to dream big and harness their connections and the power of Rotary to turn those dreams into reality.
“Imagine, a world that deserves our best,” Jones told incoming district governors on 20 January, “where we get up each day knowing that we can make a difference.”
Jones, who will make history on 1 July by becoming Rotary’s first female president, gave a live online address to precede Rotary’s annual training event for district governors from around the world, the International Assembly. The assembly was rescheduled because of the COVID-19 pandemic and will now be held virtually 7-14 February.
Feb 3, 2022 - Woodbine Hospitality - via Zoom ... by Bill C.
Membership/Attendance: 43 Active members - 15 Members Attending Guests & Visitarians; Tom Fernandez (speaker), Charlie Smith (AG), Pattie Langley, Nancy Williams, Dan FisherThe Beginning: President Terry called the meeting to order. Since there were only 4 present, we skipped our opening club rituals. Within a few minutes, zoom attendance blossomed to 17. The Program: Bill Conole introduced Tom Fernandez, the Director of Woodbine Hospitality, by noting that the Hilltop Restaurant has been a Skaneateles landmark for decades. After so many decades, it will be a welcome mark of progress to replace the Hilltop with a new modern hotel & restaurant. Tom Fernandez opened his remarks by noting that Woodbine is building a hotel near the Welch Allyn Baxter Plant. Tom said that a few months ago, Woodbine was approached by the Hilltop owner to see if they were interested in the site. After a brief study, Woodbine agreed that the site is well suited to a new hotel, restaurant & wedding site. Over the past few years increasing numbers of tourists are visiting Skaneateles. Skaneateles has also become a site for “destination weddings”. Building these new facilities will greatly improve Skaneateles’ Western Gateway . The restaurant will be family friendly with games for children. It will be a place where Skaneateles residents can come for meals & drinks. Tom described the plans for the new operation in detail. Tom responded to several questions. Tom said the timeline to start building the site is early to late this Spring with an early Summer '23 completion date. Tom is confident that this new hotel & restaurant will meet the growing need for these services in Skaneateles.
