THE PROGRAM: DG Cheryl Matt
District Governor (DG) Cheryl Matt:  Bill Conole introduced DG Cheryl Matt by praising her 26 years of Rotary leadership & service. DG Cheryl outlined her goals & aspirations for the coming Rotary Year. Cheryl noted that all Rotary Clubs are different. Today clubs are encouraged to serve their communities in their own ways. Cheryl encouraged clubs to grow by reaching out to their communities & by inviting people to Rotary meetings. CLICK HERE to view the slides DG Cheryl used.
District Conference - DG Cheryl announced that the District Conference this Fall will be a virtual on-line event due to the COVID. It will occur on October 17th. Members can zoom into the many interesting conferences. There will even be a festive on-line party. A conference Venue will soon be published.
Rotary International President (RIP) - DG Cheryl announced that our new RI President is Holger Knaack. Holger is the 1st RI President from Germany. RIP Holger advocates that Rotary Clubs must focus on increasing the number of female members & transitioning Rotaractors into Rotarians. DG Cheryl agrees with RIP Holger & encourages all of our District clubs to seek out opportunities for growth.
Visibility of Rotary - DG Cheryl wants clubs to become more transformative. To do this clubs must become more visible in their communities. Clubs must publicize the good things they are doing to attract new members. In response to a question Cheryl said the she has visited 36 of the Districts 42 clubs to date.
Shelter Box Award — Past District Governor (PDG) Randy Wilson saluted our club for being one of the four clubs in the District to support Shelter Box on an ongoing basis. PDG Wilson presented our club with the Bronze Shelter Box Award.
Rotary Leadership Institute - DG Cheryl encouraged our members to attended the virtual RLI on the 26th of Sept.  (see notice below)

Rotary Supports Baltimore Woods... by Ward
Sep 9th, Dale Drake, Skaneateles Rotary Club's(SCR) Grant Chair and David Lee, SRC, President presented to Whitney Lash-Marshall, Executive Director, Baltimore Woods with a $7,000 check to help fund the renovation efforts of their handicap accessible trail.
The funds are from a consortium of regional Rotary Clubs (Camillus, Marcellus, Skaneateles & Skaneateles Sunrise) and matching funds from The Rotary Foundation through a District grant.  The Grant was written and is managed by Dale.  Work on the trail will start in October using volunteers (Rotarians and others).  This project, and many more like it, are the result of Rotarians working with others to support their communities though volunteerism and resources.
