Crouse Hospital NICU Annual Fundraiser Polo Event, Skaneateles Polo Field
PRESIDENTS' CORNER ... by Pres., Mary Giroux
Thanks to all of our club members for making my term as president a great experience. I enjoyed working with all of you on club projects and events. Our talented President Bill Conole will do a great job for our club in the 2018-2019 year!
See you on the 12th and stay cool!
District Changing of the Guard...by Mary
The District Changing of the Guard took place at Dibbles Inn, Vernon on Friday evening with a packed house. Unfortunately the club gavel was left behind in Skaneateles so Mary had to improvise. Bill Conole accepted the "gavel" graciously. Many honors were bestowed at the event but Bill and Mary agreed that the best award was to Ward who has raised over $13,00 with his wine stoppers for polio project.
Welcome Bill and way to go Ward!
Pack'n for The Children of the World
AROUND THE CORNER - OnSunday, Jul 8, 2018 at 2 PM, the Skaneateles Rotarians and friends will be selecting and packing children's and reference books at the Annual Skaneteles Library book sales, located next to the Village Hall, in the old fire barn. Once the book sales is over at 2 PM, we will be permitted to glean the books for the CNY Books for the World project. The selected books will eventually make their way to the children in 3rd world countries via the Rotarian CNY BFTW project. The gleaning and packing typically takes from one to two hours. See ye there! .... by Ward

PolioStoppers Program Completed
Ward closed out his PolioStoppers program at the Annual District Changing of the Guard event Friday. The grand total raised for Polio Eradication over the past two years is $13,000. A total of 150 bottle stoppers, 1 fountain pen, 1 ball point pen, and 2,500 of his Ward's PH points were distributed to the donors from multiple clubs and districts.
Lots of saw dust and wood chips ... and fun turning ... was generated during the project. Many thanks to all that participated in the fund raising project.

THE BEGINNINGS
Annual Foundation Meeting: Skaneateles Rotary Foundation Chair Chuck O’Neil called the annual meeting to order. Outgoting oundation Treasurer, Kathy Crelot reviewed the Foundation’s assets & current fiscal condition. After 3 years of serving as Treasurer, Kathy Crelot turned over these responsibilities to Marv. Chuck thanked Kathy for upgrading the financial records by utilizing 2018 Quick Books. Chair Chuck O’Neil welcomed Kathy Crelot (new 3 year term) & Doug Powell to the Foundation Board. Chuck thanked everyone for supporting our Foundation & urged everyone to consider giving to our Foundation. After delivering a very positive report Chuck closed the annual meeting. The final report should be complete by our next meeting in mid July.
Volunteers: President Mary noted that Clear Path For Veterans is looking for volunteers on Sunday July 8th. The Library is looking for volunteers to help set up their annual book sale on July 5th.

Bill praised Mary for leading by example & for being a “hands on leader. Bill promised to do his best to serve our club.

Host families needed … help spread the word!
Skaneateles has a remarkable history of sending students around the world and receiving students from around the world.
In 2018-19, the Skaneateles Rotary Club will send four students around the globe (to Japan, Paraguay, Taiwan and Austria). In exchange, we will welcome two exchange students to our community, our high school and our homes. Tymoteusz Juncewicz will come from Poland and Gahyeon Han will come from South Korea.
We need your help! Can you host? Would you like to know more? Or do you know someone who might want to know more?
We need three families for each student. (Exchange students experience three families during their year abroad).
Since 1996, the Skaneateles Rotary Club has welcomed 79 in-bound Rotary Youth Exchange students and has sent 105 out-bound students.
We need help because it has become harder to find host families in recent years.
To learn more, ask any member of our Youth Exchange Committee: Gard Lorey (727-5461), Karen Price, Dale Drake, Jim McQuiggan, Lori Ruhlman (729-2831). We are all committed to this program because we sent our children abroad. We also have all hosted (multiple times) and have found the experience enriching -- and well worth the modifications that must be made for the short time period. We now have "children" all around the world!
Rockin' With Rotary - July 20-22
Auburn Rotarians are gearing up for the second annual Rotary Ribs Rhythm & Blues Festival, July 20-22 on Deauville Island at Emerson Park in Auburn. We've added a free concert night for Friday July 20th featuring a Syracuse favorite, Chief Big Way!
The Rotary Ribs Rhythm & Blues Festival is a Kansas City BBQ Society (KCBS) sanctioned event and New York State championship. Both amateur and professional BBQ teams from the Northeast and Canada compete for the best ribs, brisket, pork and chicken. And several of these teams will be selling their BBQ! The weekend's Grand Champion receives an automatic invitation to the Jack Daniels National Championship in October. The music is Rhythm & Blues, with great performers from Syracuse, Rochester, Buffalo and Woodstock, NY. Tickets are $10 for adults, $12 for kids ages 12 and under. We invite and welcome all District 7150 Rotarians to come and enjoy this great event with us.
