LAST WEEK: .... by Ward Vuillemot
Syracuse Chiefs Top Sloppy Charlotte Knights, 8-4 - as experienced by the DeWitt Rotarians and 4 Skaneateles Rotarians ; The Syracuse Chiefs used a five-run fourth inning to sprint past the Charlotte Knights, 8-4, on Thursday evening at NBT Bank Stadium. The Chiefs' top three hitters -- Adrian Sanchez, Brandon Snyder, and Ryan Raburn -- reached base five times while combining for five runs scored and six runs batted in. The Chiefs also took advantage of six Charlotte errors in the win.    The other 56 Skaneateles Rotarians missed a cool night a the park, and the lucky four plus guest, Christopher Huba, chilled out for a fun evening; with Christopher snagging a foul ball.  How cool is that?
EXTRA BONUS- As a bonus, we watched 5 go-arounds by a KC10 AF tanker doing touch and goes at Hancock Airfield, with downwind passes, low over the stadium.  Almost exciting as the game.

50/50 - Was on hold while at the ball game . The elusive Queen of Spades remains concealed in the shrinking deck of cards.

PRESIDENT'S CORNER ... by Prez Bill
Greetings, Skantarians!  Skantarians! A slow, somewhat soggy week, to be sure. A handful of us enjoyed watching the Chiefs trounce the Charlotte Knights, 8-4. Free hats & rally towels, dollar dogs, two dollar drafts and decent weather made it a nice experience. Not to mention seeing other Clubs and doing a little Rotary business on the side. Board meeting this week; see you all afterwards. Thank you!
Memorial Day Parade -  Rotarian Veterans Participate .... by Mary Giroux
Fellow Rotarians Bill Conole, Robin Jowaisis and John Moran, all veterans of the Vietnam Era braved the chilly temperatures and teeming rain to march in the 2017 Skaneateles Memorial Day Parade honoring fallen service members of the United States Armed Forces.  Also marching but not pictured were Dale Drake and Roy MacDonald. The parade began at the American Legion Post on Jordan Street with ceremonies at St. Mary's Cemetery and Lakeview Cemetery.  The final destination was Shotwell Memorial Park, the site of  honor rolls of men and women that have served in conflicts throughout the years. After a new wall of honor for service members of the Middle East conflicts was dedicated a flyover concluded the ceremonies.
Thank you to all Rotarians that have served our country.

COUNTING DOWN OF PANCAKES & Tasks Schedule - Fathers Day Pancake Breakfast is but few weeks away.  Fathers Day this year is June 18th, so please mark that date in ink on your calendar, as well as the Friday AM and Saturday AM before for set-up, and Monday AM afterwards for tear down. This year will mark our 49th consecutive year holding our Club's biggest fund raising event, and we need every Rotarian to participate to insure its continued success!  Check our website "Site Pages" for additional information.
