THE BEGINNING: President Elect Andy Stevens opened the meeting by leading us in the Pledge of Allegiance and welcoming our guests: Caitlyn Yengo and her parents Chris and Alyssa Yengo, and Lily Bennett and her parents Jennifer and Lloyd Bennett. Also, Lee's lovely better half Peggy Bennett. ANNNOUNCEMENTS:
>Canine Guest: Mary introduced Blaise, an 8-month-old yellow lab being trained to be a service dog for a veteran with PTS. Clear Path for Veterans is looking for volunteers that will "foster" dogs in training on the weekends to give them a break from kennel life. If you're interested see Mary. >New Member Induction: Bill B and Andy inducted our newest members, Kelley and Brad Wilson. Kelley and Brad are sponsored by Lori Ruhlman and are no strangers to our club. They've attended many meetings and pitched in to help at the Pancake Breakfast. Welcome to Kelley and Brad, we're happy to have you!
>Tribute to Women Members: With the induction of Kelley our club now has 11 women as members. Bill B paid tribute to the importance of women in our club. In the last year we've been joined by Katie Brown, Pam Stern, Evie Shaffer, Sharon O'Connell, Corey Bauman and Kelley Wilson. And, there have been four women who have served as club president. Rotary International now has a woman president. Thanks ladies!! >Community Service Projects: Polo for Preemies (Crouse Hospital) is asking for our club’s help on Sunday July 28th from 11:00 to 4:30. Contact Ayham to volunteer. Help is needed with various “light tasks” and will only take a few hours. Contact Ayham at ayhamboucher@gmail.com. >Library Service Project: Mary asked for volunteers to help the library clean up and box books after this year’s book sale. The date is August 12th. Time is 5:00 and address is 75 Fennell St. Last year, with several volunteers, the cleanup took less than 2 hours. Let Mary know if you can help mfgiroux0614@gmail.com. >Board Meeting: Bill announced that our next club board meeting will be held on August 1st. >Happy Hour: Please note that our next Happy Hour will be at Craig and Barb Froelich’s boat house on 101 W Lake Street, on August 8th. Please try to join us in this beautiful setting. >RSVPS: Please show up when you RSVP our meetings. Now the club has to pay for no shows. This expense will be passed on to members.
THE PROGRAM: Welcome Home!
Lee introduced our returning Youth Exchange Students: Caitlyn Yengo who is back home after spending a year in Italy and Lily Bennett who returned from Brazil. Both wore their Rotary vests which were full of pins and mementos of their year abroad. Lily and Caitlyn both spoke of their adventures being immersed in different cultures, learning the language and seeing lots of ne places. Both agreed that their year abroad was a life changing event. Welcome back to Lily and Caitlyn! The Yengo and Bennett families will both be hosting our inbound YES, Lene, in the upcoming year. THE ENDING-Andy thanked Robin and Ed for setting up our dinner, Will Pratt for creating our dinner and the Legion for hosting our club. A special thanks to Ed for our yummy fruit salad dessert!
