Christmas Basket Fundraiser ideas ... by Jay
The Christmas Basket Dinner is our big fundraiser during the holiday season. Similar to the Pancake Breakfast, Covid has put the event, as traditionally held, in jeopardy. With that in mind, we are actively looking for ways to hold a modified version of the event and potentially add another event earlier in the fall to ensure we are able to give our normal amount of money to excellent causes. If anyone has any ideas for ways to hold a modified Christmas Basket Dinner and/or other fundraising events please reach out to Jay Stith (email –jstith@healthstrategyassoc.com or cell - 315-209-0753).
The club had a brainstorming session at our recent meeting on Thursday. Numerous members mentioned interesting ideas worth evaluation. Ideas included:
Holding a Christmas Basket Dinner just not at the Country Club – members would host people at their house for a dinner rather than at the Country Club. Guests would hopefully donate as they would to raise money.
Moving the Christmas Basket Dinner forward to either Sept/Oct, smoking turkeys, and holding the event outdoors.
Holding an event at the Skaneateles Brewery that combines drinks from the Brewery and possibly some sort of BBQ dinner sale. The money would be raised from either tips on drinks purchases or a surcharge on each beer as well as on the BBQ dinners.
A shred day where we would shred items for the community for a fee.

The World Health Organization (WHO) on August 25 announced that transmission of the wild poliovirus has officially been stopped in all 47 countries of its African region. This a a historical and vital step toward global eradication of polio, which is Rotary's top priority.
After decades if hard won gain in the region, Rotary and its partners in the (GPEI) - WHO, U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, UNICEF, and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and Gavi, the vaccine alliance - are proclaiming the milestone an achievement in public health. They offer it as proof that strong commitment, coordination and perseverance can rid the world of polio.
Ward attended the ClubRunner two day virtual seminar (Thurs & Fri), which was outstanding with numerous new enhancements and ideas. ClubRunner is the platform we use for our club data, newsletter, emails & website. Ward will review some of the highlights with our officers and directors at the next BOD meeting, and will make some suggestions on how we can better utilize the platform to manage our clubs growth and fund raising. Some of the new and enhanced highlights are:
Membership dues management
Fund Raising management and collection
New member welcome memos and management
Mobil app for member information
Fresh ideas to enhance & better utilize our website and social media
and much more
Twas insightful & exciting and Ward can't what to share and implement portions of what he learned.
