I do not think we have ever had a more gracious, dedicated, organized and reliable president. Her manner of quiet determined leadership kept us all moving forward. Week after week our meetings were relevant, well run and inspiring. On June 18th our Youth Exchange students went to Seward Elementary School in Auburn to speak to K - 5th grade students about their cultures.
In the picture with the 4th grade teachers are: Marcus from Brazil, Kata, from Finland,( Ming from China) and Bartek from Poland.
They did a great job presenting to the students about their countries, and it was beneficial to all concerned!
After a morning at school, they enjoyed lunch at Parker's with Rotarians Roberta Williams and Amy Tormey.

Polio-Eradication Update ... by Ward Vuillemot
When RI President Carlos Canseco announced Rotary International's PolioPlus program at a press conference in February of 1985, there were 1,000 new cases of polio in our world every day. That's 365,000 new cases each year. The commitment of Rotary was to eradicate polio from the face of the earth by Rotary's centennial year in 2005.
To kick off the project, Rotary set a goal to raise $120 million in contributions and pledges. Rotarians responded overwhelmingly with just over $220 million that first year. The same year, the World Health Assembly set launched the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) with Rotary as one of its major partners.
2005 came and significant progress had been made, but RE was still short of the goal of complete eradication of polio. A few wars and major conflicts slowed the effort down in a few regions of the world, but has not dampen the resolve to rid with world of this terrible child paralyzing disease. New partnerships were formed with organizations.
Thirty years into the project, Rotarians have contributed more than $1.2 billion to polio eradication and has partnered with many other organizations, including Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation bringing us nearer the end of our quest.
TODAY ... June 26th, 2015, the Polio Global Eradication Intuitive reports that there are but new 27 casesof polio report in 2015 (24-Pakistan and 3-Afghanistan) and none reported in Nigeria in the past 9 months.
We are almost there, but the world is not polio-free until the are no new reported cases for 3 years. Our contribution and support are continued to be needed until our goal of a POLIO FREE WORLD has been achieved.

LAST WEEK: ... by Bill Conole
Skaneateles Energy - Our speaker, Peter Moffa, has advanced degrees in engineering & environmental engineering. He has worked in these fields for more than 40 years. Peter Moffa described in detail the efforts the village & the town of Skaneateles are making to study & to implement alternative sources & modes of energy.
For several years Peter has served on a municipal committee whose mission was to reduce our village’s reliance on National Grid by seeking alternative energy sources. Our new Village/Town center uses several sources of alternative energy. As a result our National Grid bill for this facility has been drastically reduced. Peter said the options built into the new center can be adopted by new homes & by commercial buildings. Peter asked Walt Blacklear to review the history of Skaneateles’ municipal electric program. As a result of this program villagers pay very low electric rates in the range of 1&1/2 -4 cents per kilowatt hour. The rate in the Town of Skaneateles is 14-15 cents per KWh.
