July 16, 2026 Meeting
Andy Stevens  opened the meeting by leading us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Andy welcomed our guests: Raul and Myrna Villarreal (Lorena's Mom and Dad), Suzette Grinells (Roberta's sister) and Dr. Shannon Turley (Roberta's friend).
Announcements:
- Thanks to Kelley and Tom for a great Happy Hour last week.
- August Happy Hour: Craig and Barb Froelich will again be hosting Happy Hour at their beautiful lake house on August 13th from 5:30 to 6:30.  Be sure to bring an appetizer to share.  The address is 101 West Lake St.
Meeting Schedule:  No meeting this coming week.  Next meeting is July 30th at The Legion.  Our speaker will be Jeff Knauss who is co-founder of Arcovo AI.  In addition, Ayham and Gillian will be preparing a special Syrian/Lebanese inspired dinner for us.
-Speakers Needed:  Meeting speakers are always needed.  Let Bill B know if you have someone in mind.
Changing of the Guard:  Andy spoke about his term as president and his great experiences.  We can probably all agree that we will miss his sharp wit, puns and silly jokes. Thanks to Andy for serving!  He passed the gavel to Brad who will serve through June 30, 2027.  Brad spoke about how important Rotary has been to his family over many generations and how that influenced him to seek out and join our club.  One of his goals for the next year is to generate more awareness about what we do and build membership.  Congratulations to Brad and thanks for serving!
Rotary in Mexico:  Tom Billone introduced two very special guests, Raul and Myrna Villarreal.  Raul and Myrna are visiting from Mexico and are Lorena's Mom and Dad.  Raul told us about forming a Rotary club in his hometown in Mexico with a group of local businesspeople.  One of their first big projects was inspired by an accident where the emergency responders did not have the right equipment to deal with a serious emergency.  The newly formed club jumped into action to provide the needed equipment.  We're happy to have Lorena (and Tom) following in her Dad's footsteps as a Rotarian!
The meeting closed with the Four (Five) Way Test.

Support Rotary’s Polar Plungers!
They are at it again – Rotary’s dedicated fundraising team of Polar Plungers. Skaneateles’ annual Polar Plunge in Skaneateles Lake will again coincide and be part of the Winterfest festivities on Saturday, January 31 at 12:30pm. The bone-chilling – yet invigorating – event raises money for the Skaneateles First Department, SAVES and the Skaneateles Education Foundation.  Our club will have a team consisting of Jason Armijo, Ayham Boucher, Rosemary Mondo, Ed Evans, Jeff LaMarca and Bradley Wilson. Other plungers are welcome to join the group, just contact Ayham
or Rosemary for details. Ed Evans provides a hot soup warmup afterwards at the Bluewater Grille for all participating plungers.  Support is Needed: There are multiple ways you can support our team of plungers and the overall fundraising effort:
  •  Write a check payable to: Skaneateles Polar Plunge and mail it to Rosemary at 10 W Genesee St, Apt 1, Skaneateles, NY  13152
  • And be sure to show up at the City Dock at 12:30 on January 31 to cheer our team on as they brave the icy waters for three great local causes.
Club Happy Dollars totaling $154 from the January 22nd meeting are being donated to the cause!
