And THERE GOES ANOTHER PALLET ... by Ward Last Tuesday morning a few of our Skaneateles Bookleggers gathered a the Skaneateles on Tap garage to transfer previously packed cartons of children's books gleaned from the State Street & Middle Schools and the Book Sale last weekend to ACE Hardware to be palletized and prepared for shipment. Lending time, talent and strong backs were; Bill C, Jay S, Micheal T and Ward. The pallet was picked up the following day for its first leg of its journey to the children of the world.
This is the 47th pallet of books gleaned and shipped from Skaneateles community and schools since the project was initiated in 2008 by a local Skantarian, and to date, over 800 pallets gathered from the four Rotary districts the project has expanded into. Rotarian Bookleggers really do Rock.
One little book makes a BIG difference to a small child.

The Program: Rosemary introduced Kirsten Johnson from the CNY Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. The CNY chapter, in addition to six other NY chapters, serve approximately 410,000 individuals suffering with Alzheimer's and their 1 million caregivers. Kirsten gave us an overview of services offered including support groups, a 24 hour help line, community education and Medic Alert for both the caregiver and patient. Kirsten answered a number of questions from club members and told us about the "Walk to End Alzheimer's" which will take place at Onondaga Community College on Sunday September 26th (Save the Date). Announcements: Mary thanked everyone that helped with the take down of the library sale last Sunday. Jack Hyatt passed around a sign up for the Firemen's Field Days serving of corn and clams. (See Above) Please sign up if you can!
