Ed welcomed our speakers and visitors, and the following club business was covered: Holiday Basket Dinner - The dinner will be held at the Skaneateles Country Club on Dec 8th. Rotarians are asked to sponsor a table or a portion of a table. Craig asked that you confirm table reservations as soon as possible at cfroelich75@gmail.com or phone 405-517-8831. Ed reviewed a list of potential donors for silent auction items and asked club members to solicit donors. Salvation Army Bell Ringing - John Moran and Rosemary are coordinating this effort. John passed a sign up around. Bell ringing will be Fri-Sat-Sun of the Dec 9th. 16th and 23rd weekends. Contact John or Rosemary to sign up (john.moran46@aol.com or rosemary@viamondo.net). Foundation Giving - Bill B reported that a number of members have made donations to the Rotary Foundation. Be sure to make your donation by December 31st for tax deduction purposes. Send your check made out to "The Rotary Foundation" to Bill Buterbaugh at 103 East Genesee St., Skaneateles, NY 13152. Adopt a Family - Marv reported that Skaneateles Outreach is asking for community members to adopt a family in need for the holidays. Call Skaneateles Outreach at 315-283-4281 or 315-6850427. The Program - Ed introduced our speakers, Somak Chattopadhyay and Pia Sawhney, founders of Armory Square Ventures. Somak and Pia founded Armory Square Ventures with an initial fund in 2014 and will be launching their third fund in 2023. Investments are in promising startups from emerging tech hubs across New York State and the Northeast and include sectors such as food, agriculture, auto and digital health. Currently the funds have over $100M under management. Fund investors include individuals, pension funds, and institutions. Somak and Pia have an office in Skaneateles as well as Syracuse and New York. It is great to have Armory Square Ventures concentrating on new and promising CNY businesses. Closing -Rosemary led us in the Four Way Test to close the meeting. |
