Guest(s): Thomas Boxho, exchange student from Belgium for 2011/2012 year, Mark, Lisa and Adam Lessman, host family for Thomas and Mickey Krieger, host family for Thomas. The Beginnings - After reciting the Pledge of Allegiance Ed Evans read an inspiration by Abraham Lincoln. President Dave made the following announcements: - Thanks to all the Rotarians that worked on the Route 20 road clean up. (see below)
- June 17th meeting will be at the Baltimore Woods pavilion where we'll have an opportunity to see the new trail. BYOB and Ed Evans will take meal orders.(see notice below)
- Changing of the Guard will be at the June 24th meeting which will be at the American Legion Pavilion
- Both the 17th and 24th meetings will be accessible on line via Zoom as well as in person
- Invoices for dues were sent out via eMail on June 1st. Please pay by June 30th (see notice below)
The Program - Gard introduced Thomas Boxho who joined us via Zoom from Brussels. Thomas was an exchange student in 2011-2012. All three of Thomas' hosts were at the meeting: Roberta, the Kriegers and Mark and Lisa L. Thomas told us how being a Rotary exchange student changed his life in that he was able to experience a culture so different from his own. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to his host families saying that he had a great time with each one. Since leaving Skaneateles Thomas has returned to the US six times. He studied international law in the Netherlands and earned a Masters degree in Political Science in Brussels.
