PROPOSED MEMBER NOTICE:
The Board of Directors approved Corey Bond-Bauman's membership application at the June 13th Board meeting. Corey has attended a number of meetings and helped at our Father's Day Pancake Breakfast. Corey owns and operates The Bond 1835 and has extensive experience in event planning, fund raising and working with non-profits and education systems. She lives a 2525 East Lake Rd. and is sponsored by Mike Tierney. We look forward to welcoming Corey as our newest member.
If there are no objections made in writing to the Club Secretary by July 11, dues are paid, she will be inducted into our membership at our meeting of July 11, or later.
LAST MEETING, Jun 27 ….. by Mary Giroux
The Beginning:Bill Buterbaugh opened the meeting by leading us in the Pledge of Allegiance and welcoming our guests: Corey Bond-Bauman, Bradley and Kelley Wilson, Bella (our exchange student), Amelia and Lily Yengo (Bella's host family), and Kim, Nickolai and Thomas Baker-Brindas (also Bella's host family).
Announcements:
> Community Service Projects: Polo for Preemies (Crouse Hospital) is asking for our club's help on Sunday, July 28th from 11:00 to 4:30. Ayham is coordinating this project and will provide additional information as the date draws near. Bill asked for ideas from club members for an August project. Ayham is also looking for volunteers to assist people off the bus at Friday evening Community Band concerts during July and August.
> Pancake breakfast summary: Mary and Jay reported on the success of the breakfast. We had 2,484 attendees which is more that the last two years and is approaching pre-pandemic levels. We also set new records for ticket sales. It was a great event with club members all pitching in. Give yourselves a pat on the back.
> Calendar Update: No meeting next week, July 4th. July 11th is next regular club meeting at the American Legion. No Happy Hour in July.
The Meeting:
> Program: Bella Bjorling, our 2023/2024 exchange student from Sweden, was introduced by Lee Bennett. Bella told us about her family and her home country of Sweden, its geography, culture and foods. Bella shared her experiences at Skaneateles High School which included participating in soccer, ski club, track (she is a star in track!) and going to the Prom. Bella also shared all of the special experiences she had with her host families and thanked our club for making it possible for her to have such a great experience. We wish Bella well as she returns home.
The Ending: Bill Bled us in the (Four + one) Five Way Test.
