Update & future plans
LAST WEEK- Feb 18th, 2021 ... by Mary
Membership/Attendance: 52 Active members 17 attending
Guests: Nancy Williams & Janine Savage (speaker)
The Beginnings - President Dave opened the meeting by welcoming our guests, beginning the Pledge of Allegiance and reminding us about Skaneateles Restaurant Week.
The Program - Suzette introduced our guest, Janine Savage, founder and principal of theSavage Homestead. Janine told us about her journey from growing up in the North Country to ending up in the beautiful Finger Lakes where she and her husband renovated a home and Janine began a new business. When the pandemic hit Janine expanded her candle making hobby to a thriving business with on line sales. The web link to to the store is:https://thesavagehomestead.com
The next step was a brick and mortar location which will be opening on Fennel Street in the village in March. The Savage Homestead will feature home products that are environment friendly, low waste, and reusable. Janine said that the new shop will have an "Eco-chic" theme and introduced the shop's logo made up of lavender and bees to reflect natural products. Thanks to Suzette for introducing us to Janine and her new shop.
Happy Moments with many members sharing what made them happy recently. Moments ranged from new grandchildren, incoming guests, temperature in Florida to ice & its cold in Texas.

Observance of April 22 as Earth Day
and Your Involvement.. Ward
On April 22, 1970, the first Earth Day was observed to launch a wave of acton to protect our environment, which included the passage of landmark environmental laws in the United States. Every year since, that day has been set aside to focus on mobilizing for action to protect our environment.
As people of action, Rotarians have been shaping the conversation on the environment for years, from fighting pollution that fouls our air and water to addressing climate change that threatens our food systems.
To find out how many Rotarians are building awareness and inspiring action, CLICK HERE to list the website of ESRAG(Environmental Sustainability Rotary Action Group) is accomplishing, and how you can join in that effort.
Give some thought as to how our club can make a difference on Earth Day and share those ideas with our leadership.
Multi-District Membership Seminar
"Young People Speak - It's Time to Stretch and Listen
Join us on February 22nd at 7:00PM for a virtual Multi-District Membership Monday seminar "Young People Speak - It’s Time to Stretch and Listen”. Hear from younger Rotarians and some who left. Find out about what they want and expect from their Rotary experience. This will be a discussion of the culture of Rotary clubs, presented as an opportunity to improve Rotary. Where can we improve? What do the panelists see and what can clubs do?
Opening up the event will be incoming Zone Coordinator, Drew Kessler, a young Rotarian himself. There will be panelists from each District (7120, 7150, 7170 & 7190).
"Super Saturday", but it will be held virtually. This event is for all of the key members of your club leadership team, as well as any Rotarians who want to get more involved.
There will be training for treasurers, secretaries, membership chairs, public image, and. foundation chairs.
There will be also a Grants Management Seminar. (Reminder: At least one person in your club is required to attend a GM Seminar in order to apply for a District Grant for next year. (There will be one other offering later this spring.)
In addition, there will also be training specifically for Assistant Governors and incoming Presidents. (Pre-PETS)

ROTARY LEADERSHIP INSTITUTES
ATTEND VIRTUALLY IN 2021
Now that Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) is being offered virtually, you can sign up for any of the upcoming events (listed below) and log in and attend from the comfort of your home!
An excellent way to expand your Rotary knowledge and contacts brought small, interactive groupings, with like minded Rotarians across NE-USA.
This is your opportunity to conveniently complete all three levels and even attend a graduate session of this interactive Rotary training. It's also less expensive this way! RLI is the perfect way for a brand new member to get acquainted with our organization, for anyone to brush up on their leadership skills and even for veteran members to get inspired with new ideas for their club.
Consider registering for any of these upcoming sessions at www.rlinea.org. Each session offers levels I, II, III and graduate. It is $25/person to attend. (this fee will be reimbursed to Skaneateles Rotary members)
