Clear Path for Veterans - Back to School Fair by Jay

On Saturday, August 13th from 1:30 to 6pm we will be helping Clear Path for Veterans with their kid's event. Types of jobs we would do include: handing out school supplies, selling game tickets, carnival game attendants, or basic food prep. Note that we can only do partial shifts if you have someone to relieve you (e.g. someone works 1:30 to 4 then someone else takes their specific job from 4 to 6).
It is required that we fill out their volunteer form before showing up (https://www.clearpath4vets.com/volunteer) - scroll down to the bottom and you will find the “Volunteer Application" under the “Volunteer” section. Aside from the basic demographic information at the top the only two important boxes to check properly are “Areas of Interest” which should be "CPV Headquarters” and “Are you volunteering with a group” which should be “Yes”.
It would also be helpful if you would let me know if you are interested in participating. The Clear Path HQ is about 45 minutes away from Skaneateles and it will help me figure out carpooling should anyone want a ride. Email me at jstith@healthstrategyassoc.com.

Last WEEK Aug 4th, 2022  by Mary
Guests  - Ryan Novak from Chocolate Pizza Co. and our friend John Kopley.
Membership/Attendance  - 40 active members, 15 attending
The Beginnings -  Ayham led us in the Pledge of Allegiance after which Jack Hyatt led us in "America the Beautiful.
The Program -  Bill C introduced Ryan Novak, owner and operator of the Chocolate Pizza Co. located a few miles away from us in Marcellus.  Ryan, an SU graduate was also #38 on the football team.  During his senior year at SU Ryan bought the Chocolate Pizza Co. business fulfilling his dream of becoming as business owner. He quickly expanded the product line adding event themed products and more variety to the inventory.  Hallmark became a corporate client which opened the doors to other opportunities.  Ryan's business has also had great exposure through the Food Network.  Chocolate Pizza Co. does online marketing and also operates a retail store.  We all enjoyed a slice of chocolate pizza for dessert thanks to Ryan and it was delicious!
After dinner Jay updated us on the Clear Path for Veterans service project which is Saturday, August 13th.  Please see article in this newsletter and let Jay know if you will be helping.   Jack Hyatt asked for our help at the Sons of the Legion food stand during Fireman's Field Days.  See the article above and reciprocate the help they give us with our pancake breakfast!  Bill B gave everyone a schedule of meetings, happy hours and service projects through the end of the year.  It will be updated and posted on the club's website for your reference.  Bill also asked for sign ups for the monthly happy hours and provided an outline of what the host should do.
The Ending - Members recited the Four Way Test and the meeting adjourned.
New Meeting Schedule!!
Members voted in favor of a new meeting schedule for our club.  Starting in August the schedule for meetings within a month is:
  • First Thursday - Diner meeting with speaker.  Meeting starts at 6:30 and ends at 8:00
  • Second Thursday - Optional attendance at Happy hour from 5:30 to 6:30.
  • Third Thursday - Diner meeting with speaker.  Meeting starts at 6:30 and ends at 8:00
  • Fourth Thursday - No meeting
  • Fifth Thursday (when applicable) - Diner meeting with speaker.  Meeting starts at 6:30 and ends at 8:00
The Next August dinner meeting will be August 18. The Happy Hour meet up will be on Thursday, August 11.  With fewer meetings attendance at in person meetings is more important than ever.
