The Beginnings:President Terry arrived by Zoom and led us in the Pledge of Allegiance after which Danny R got us off to a great start in singing "America the Beautiful". Duane read an inspiration.
Club Business - was discussed before dinner as follows:
- Annual TRF giving has hit a stall so please get your contributions toward our $5100 Foundation and $2000 Polio Plus goals to Bill B as soon as possible.(see status in notice below)
- The BOD met this past Monday. The decision was made to not have the Holiday Basket dinner this year. In lieu of the dinner a virtual fundraising effort similar to last year's will be conducted. Attendance at live meetings was discussed. COVID is still with us so this will be an ongoing issue. (see more in BOD notes below)
Program:Doug Rutan, PP of our club and President of The Manor's board and Steve Frackenpohl made a presentation about The Manor. The Manor is a non denominational home for independent living for seniors. It has been in operation for forty five years. Situated close to the center of the village it offers a home like environment with six suites, each with a private bath, In addition to the suites The Manor has a common area, activity room, Dining room and kitchen. Meals are prepared daily and are included in the rent. Doug said that COVID presented some challenges but those have been overcome. The Manor is not for profit relying on fundraising, volunteer labor and grants to keep it going. Doug also invited our club to consider a service project to help The Manor.
The Endings:Doug Rutan led us in the Four Way Test.

World Polio Day Celebration Dinner
Celebrate with Special Guest, R.I. President-Elect Jennifer Jones as the keynote speaker.
As or Oct. 14th, we are at 33% of our $5,100 goal for The Annual Fund and 85% or our PolioPlus goal. We still have a bit to go to make those goals by month end. So .... get you yearly Rotary Foundation donations into Bill Buterbaugh soon so we can all collect that treat from Bill in a few weeks.

Your Board of Directors met on Oct 10th via Zoom. the following is a brief of the discussions and actions taken.

BOD Minutes - approved for minutes of September meeting.
SRF Financials - and cash flow reviewed by Marv (see website for SRF cash flow status - members only)
BOD & Leadership Roles: Vacant positions still need filling: Youth Exchange, Worthy Cause, Fundraising and President Elect.
Community Service Projects - Reviewed
Duck Dash - We had fourSRC members participate.
Dictionary Project - scheduled for distribution on 10/29 at State St. School.
Holiday Basket Dinner: The board discussed the feasibility of having the dinner given that COVID remains a risk and decided not to hold an in-person event this year. A small feasibility team is working on a virtual giving event again, as we held in 2020.
Sherwood Meetings & Attendance - Discussions held around the low attendance & it's affect on the use of the Sherwood Inn and club functions. It was decided to survey the membership for input on attendance and meeting issues.
Worthy Causes - The club is supporting the HS Actors by funding a one page ad it the upcoming play program.
Membership & Dues - Three individuals have been removed from the club membership for non-payment of dues.
District Conference - Agreed to reimburse Pres. Terry conference fees, as per previous club practice.
Next BOD meeting - Nov 8th at 5PM via Zoom
