Guests: Dr. Allyson Holmes (speaker), Emily Holmes, John Buterbaugh (Bill son),  John Kopley (Jack's friend), AG Charlie Smith (Marcellus Rotary),
The Beginning:  Several club members made announcements:
Ward:  Please remember to RSVP with menu choices to Ed Evans by Tuesday noon before the Thursday meeting.
Jack H :  Spots to serve corn and clams at the Fireman's Field Days are still open.
Lee: Reported that Karen and Dave Price are all moved into their new home and thanked all that helped.
After announcements we recited the pledge of allegiance, sang "America the Beautiful"  and then tried to figure out who wrote the quote that President Terry read....Thomas Jefferson!
The Program:  Roberta introduced her lifelong friend and our guest speaker, Dr. Allyson Holmes.  Dr Holmes grew up in Camillus and currently lives in Paris with her daughter Emily.  Dr. Holmes told us about her career beginning at the Red Cross in Syracuse and eventually leading to cancer research at Sorbonne Universite'.  Specifically Dr. Holmes has worked in the area of cervical cancer which is caused by a virus.  A vaccine to prevent infection by HPV, the cancer causing virus, is now available and is given to teens and young adults.  Dr. Holmes then spoke about the Covid viru and the vaccines currently approved.  Dr. Holmes said that the Moderna, Pfizer and J&J vaccines are all safe and effective.  She stressed that all should get the vaccine in order to stop the virus.  A number of questions were asked and answered.
Four Way Test was led by Jason.

Volunteers Needed
Eastern Farm Workers Association
Back-to-School Project:
On Friday August 27th and Saturday August 28th the EFWA is sorting back-to-school supplies into backpacks to give to their member’s children.
We are looking for volunteers on the 27th for two shifts: 10 to noon and then noon to 2.  Then the morning of the 28th between 10 and noon.
They will be sorting and packing all day the 27th and packing and delivering into the afternoon of the 28th so if you are interested but the times I mentioned do not work you can still get involved.
The location for the event is First Unitarian Universalist Society 109 Warning Rd Syracuse, NY 13224.
Please RSVP by contacting me (315-209-0753 or jstith@healthstrategyassoc.com). As this location is out of town please also mention if you are looking to carpool and if you would mind being a driver in addition to what shift you are free to work.
Duck Dash: Saturday September 25th
On Saturday September 25th the Chamber of Commerce, YMCA, and other local non-profits are hosting Duck Dash between 2 and 4pm behind the CVS in the Village. The event consists of games for kids, food, drinks, and several duck races where people throw plastic ducks into the creek and see whose duck is fastest – it is geared toward kids, and younger families, and grandparents but anyone is welcome.
Volunteer opportunities include set up/clean up, ticket sorting, and 3 to 5 people calling the race finishes from in the creek.
If you are interested please contact me so I can give the organizers a sense of how many people we will have to help (315-209-0753 or jstith@healthstrategyassoc.com).
