Rotarian Andy Stevens shared with us his past professional career in the development and sales of embedded computers, which are used in many devices that we have become familiar with over the past decade of more.  He also spoke of his passion for bicycling  and skiing; the later which his has turned into a advocation as an instructor following his retirement from his profession career.  Of particular interest, was how he was able to wrap the 4-Way Test into his ski instruction ethos.   Andy's talk was quite interesting and as a result we all know him better and are please to have him a member.
The Endings:
> Jay Stith reviewed the proceeds of his Funding Committee that met Wednesday via Zoom, and shared with us some of their initial thoughts a possible activity to replace of the Christmas Basket fund raiser this year.  Jay encouraged members to bring their ideas to the table next week, August 20th for a brainstorming discussion.

Rotary Leadership Institute  .... by Ward
At the Rotary Leadership Institute Northeastern America, RLINEA, virtual annual meeting this Saturday (8/15) two of our District 7150 PDG's were elected to key positions.
PDG Deb Glisson is the newly elected Exec-Dir and PDG Jerry Gortner is to Chair next year.  Jerry is assuming the position of V-Chair of the Northern regions this year.  They both have been district and regional leaders in RLINEA of the past years, and we looking forward to their continued leadership and we move ahead in these difficult times.
Of note;  RLINEA will only offer virtual on-line sessions during the coming years due to the COVID issues.   The first of these sessions will be offered in our district early this Fall.  More information and details to follow as the logistics and procedures become available.
Skantarian Masked Bookleggers ... by Ward
Five Skantarians (Skaneateles Rotary members) masked Bookleggers gathered at the Skaneateles Middle School Thursday (8/13) morning to glean, box and tote 15 cartons of excellent "gently used" text and reference books for the CNY Books for the World project. Once they have a full pallet load (24 cartons) the books will start their journey to children in the third world country in need of educational materials.
Pictured l/r are: Marv, Jay Bill and Mary. Turn around and you will find the 5th volunteer, Ward behind the camera. 😷
Our thanks and appreciation go out to those folks for their time, effort and "backs" ... and ... to the Skaneateles Schools for donating the books.
