Guests: Doug Hill (proposed member) & Chief Scott Higgelke (speaker) The Beginnings > President Dave opened the meeting with pledge to our flag and by welcomed members & guests. > President Dave gave a brief summary of the Aug 10th BOD meeting, which was summarized in the Aug 13th newsletter. (that issue can be found on-line) The Programs: > Scott Heggelke, Skaneateles Police Chief was introduced by Bill Conole. Chief Heggelke spoke of is long and proud career in law enforcement, starting in 1984 in Baltimore, followed many years as a New State Police officer and administrator. He spoke of his long association with the Skaneateles community and his commitment to service. The Village of Skaneateles I privileged to have Chief Heffelke on guard to keep our community safe. CLICK HERE to read more. > Rotarian Andy Stevens shared with us his past professional career in the development and sales of embedded computers, which are used in many devices that we have become familiar with over the past decade of more. He also spoke of his passion for bicycling and skiing; the later which his has turned into a advocation as an instructor following his retirement from his profession career. Of particular interest, was how he was able to wrap the 4-Way Test into his ski instruction ethos. Andy's talk was quite interesting and as a result we all know him better and are please to have him a member. The Endings: > Jay Stith reviewed the proceeds of his Funding Committee that met Wednesday via Zoom, and shared with us some of their initial thoughts a possible activity to replace of the Christmas Basket fund raiser this year. Jay encouraged members to bring their ideas to the table next week, August 20th for a brainstorming discussion. > The American Legion was proposed a venue for the August 27th meeting. > Jack questioned if we had plans to return to the Sherwood. No resolution to date. > Ward noted that the RLINEA Anl Mtg is to be held via Zoom this weekend. (see summary notes below) > Ward Thanked our Masked Bookleggers for their work earlier in the day. (see article below) > The meeting was closed with Andy Stevens leading us in the 4-way test. |
