NOTICES of NOTE
VALENTINE DINNER THIS WEEK.  Cocktails at 6 PM.
VALENTINES DINNER -  Feb 12th - Spouse and Guest event.  The menu is a choice of Chicken Francaise (lemon butter sauce), Vegetable Napoleon, or Top Sirloin Steak.  Cost is $25 per person.  
    RSVP with Cheryl at: 761-9027 or  cherylsilvestrini@rocketmail.com   All reservations must be in by; Monday, Feb. 9th.
PROPOSED MEMBER NOTICE:  Kathleen Crelot and Suzette Grinnals, have been proposed for membership by Noel Gettman and Roberta Williams, and their applications have been accepted by the Board of Directors. Kathleen's classification is "Banking" and she is a past member of the Geneva RC.  Suzette's classification is "Education".  Both are retired from their professions. If there are no objections made to the Club Secretary, in writing, within 10 day of this notice, and they received Rotary Information, they will be inducted into our membership on, or following, our meeting of February 26th.

President Cheryl encouraged members to register for our 2015 District Conference which is being held in “The Lodge at Welch Allyn” on April 24-26.
Cheryl and Ward reviewed the changes the changes to our by-laws that were published early in January. The members unanimously approved the changes.
David Lee announced that there is a public meeting, to discuss plans to update the Skaneateles Library, this Wedsday, Mar. 11th,  evening at 6:30PM in the Skaneateles School District Office Conference Room.
Guests--AG Ed Helinski, Area 6, and  Jim Lanning, Sunrise Rotary President-
Jim Lanning proposed that the two Skaneateles Rotary Clubs join together on a District Conference, Saturday afternoon project, to plant a couple of trees in the Skaneateles Nature area at the Rotary pavilion.
Ed Helinski joined Cheryl in encouraging our members to fully support this year’s annual conference. Ed solicited our support for the Rotary District 7150 Guide. Ed noted that our club was the 1st club to submit a club bio for this guide. Ed announced that the Auburn Rotary Club is celebrating it’s 100 Year Anniversary with a dinner in the Springside Inn on April 25. Tickets for this event are $50 per person.  Ed mentioned that the Auburn Rotary Club is having a chicken barbeque on Sunday March 1 at 11:00 in the Auburn Knights of Columbus Hall.

BOARD OF DIRECTOR MEETING SUMMARY NOTES of Feb 05, 2015 
Your BOD directors met last week on Feb 5th with the following items discussed and motions passed.
  • Valentine Dinner - Feb 12th.  Plans discussed.  A suggestion was made to establish a chair a month in advance next year.  I think I heard, on my left,  Amy volunteer. angel
  • Weekly Dinner Ticket Summary - sheet was presented and discussed.  Motion made and passed to make it a part of our dinner ticket process.
  • District Conference - Attendance encouraged by Cheryl, since we are co-host with the Sunrise club.  Additionally, the DG Deb has asked us to work with the Sunrise club to host a Saturday afternoon project.  Tree planting has been suggested.
  • Membership Proposals - Kathlleen Crelot & Suzette Grinnals membership proposals were accepted and a Proposal Notice are carried in this issue of the Skantarian.
  • 2014-15 District Grant - Medical supplies for So. Sudan clinic is now in process.  Includes:  one each, oxygen concentrator, microscope and centrifuge at an estimated cost of $3,330.  This will be 50/50 split between SRF and District Grant funds.
  • Boys State - A requested for funding of one student to attend Boys State in the spring was approved.
  • Scoreboard - Proposal to purchase a scoreboard for the new rink was discussed and tabled until the next BOD meeting, when more information will be made available (what, how much and how funded)
  • The Rotary Foundation giving and status: 
    • Annual Giving = $9,020 or 148% of $6,100 goal
    • PolioPlus = $1,085 or 54% of $2,000 goal - We need continue effort in this area.
    • ​The $1,500 matching dollars have been forwarded to TRF
    • We still have 500 matching points available for  PolioPlus giving.
  • Women's Day Program (March 12th)  - plans were reviewed by Amy.  To be a spouse & guest event with an excellent speaker. Cost at $25 per person.
  • By-Law modifications - were voted upon and accepted by the membership at the evening's meeting.  Copy to be placed on the website..
RLI (Rotary Leadership Institute) Owego NY, Mar 7 -  We encourage newer members and officers to attend.  The club will reimburse you for your $75 fee.   Register on-line at http://www.rlinea.org and select Verona in the left column of the Home page.  
 
Auburn Rotary Club 100th Anniversary - The Auburn Rotary Club is to celebrate its 100th Anniversay on Sunday, April 12th.  Cocktails 3:00 pm, Dinner 4:00 pm at the Springside Inn, Auburn.  $35 per person - cash bar.  RSVP by April 1st - Alan Dungey @ 283-3949 or Paul Barrus @ 237-7859.  Of note - Auburn RC sponsored the Skaneateles RC in 1927, so that this a special occasion for Skantarians as well.  
DISTRICT CONFERENCE 2015 - April 24 - 26, The Welch Allyn Lodge, Skaneateles NY.   and its in our home town.  Let's get out their and demonstrate the hospitality of Skaneateles.  You can pick and choose on the meals and event when you register.  The conference committee needs your registration sooner that later, so they can may the appropriate plans. For information and/or to register, go to the D7150 Website or click on the accompanying LIGHT UP ROTARY graphic.
