THE PROGRAM: Angela Daddabbo of Auburn Public Theater
For tonight’s program, Lori introduced the speaker Angela Daddabbo, owner of Auburn’s Public Theater. Angela was born and raised in Auburn, NY and grew up in what was considered the “heyday” of Auburn.  She attended Wellesley College and majored in English literature. She took what she originally thought was going to be a gap year after college before thinking of applying to law schools and went to Tokyo to teach English. She ended up staying there for 3 years instead and started a theater company. Then went on to move to Los Angelos before heading back to Auburn, NY in 2001 where she took over a pizza shop called Daddabbo’s Pizza. It was here that the inspiration started to create a theater across the street in the old Grant’s building after noticing that half her customers were staring at an old building with For Sale and For Lease signs. The building was then purchased in 2005 and Auburn Public Theater opened on December 7, 2005. The theater is currently going on 19 seasons so far. It has a 200-seat venue, 65-seat cinema space, and 75 seat stage-right area. It also offers a lot of programs for the community to enjoy such as improv camps for kids, teaches film making, has adult classes, and acting classes to just to name a few. As Lori said during her introduction from the Auburn Public Theater Website, “Auburn Public Theater enriches the social, cultural, and economic growth of our region by bringing people together through affordable access to live performance, cinema, arts education, and community events.”

THE ENDING: Andy Stevens led us in the (Four + one) Five Way Test

Board of Directors Mtg Brief  ... by Mary Giroux
Your Board of Directors met on January 2, 2025.   The following is a brief of the discussions and actions taken:
Attendees:  Andy Stevens, Vince Magnotta, Jay Stith, Conner Finlay, Mary Giroux, Bill Buterbaugh and David Lee
Andy Stevens opened the meeting.
Minutes:  Minutes of the previous meeting were approved.
President’s Focus for 2025:  Andy discussed implementation of the “front desk” for regular club meetings with the use of name badges.  This will encourage interaction between members, new and older.  The 50-50 raffle is also being resurrected.  Details are: 1)  one ticket for a dollar, five tickets for three dollars  2) winner receives 50% of the evening’s ticket sales  3) winner may choose to draw a card from the deck and forfeit 50% of their winnings if the Queen of Hearts is not drawn.  Forfeited winnings go into a “pot” that grows until someone draws the Queen of Hearts. 4)  if the Queen of Hearts is drawn the winner also wins the “pot” that has accumulated.  5) guests may participate in the 50-50 drawing but are not eligible to participate in the Queen of Hearts drawing.  6) 50% of the evening’s ticket sales go to the Club coffers.
Andy also brought up for discussion membership engagement and asked how we can encourage members to attend regular meetings.  This discussion will continue at the next Board meeting.
