Breaking News!!!
District Grant Approved!!
     The multi club District Grant submitted by the Skaneateles Sunrise Club to help save the eastern hemlock trees at Baltimore Woods from lethal attacks by the invasive hemlock wooly adelgid has been approved.  Our club is a participant in this important project.  The District will be matching club funds in the amount of $3,750.  Thanks to Dale Drake for his work on this project!  And, thanks to the Sunrise Club for sponsoring the grant.

The Beginnings - Pres Ed led us in the Pledge of Allegiance after' Dan Roche  led us in "America the Beautiful, after which we recited the 4 way test
The Program -  Club business and discussions.
  • Youth Exchange - The District YE is opening for incoming & outbound students for the 2023/24 Rotary, for which we need to start planning for this Fall.   John O & Gard L reviewed the current status of the to requirements for our club's Youth Exchange program, and pointed our the need for a new reorganized committee.  Ed said that we will prioritize this effort to resolved shortly. CLICK HERE to learn more about the D7150 Youth Exchange program.
  • Books for the World - Ward briefly summarized the project, how the books are distributed in 3rd world countries and their benefits to children of the world.  He is longer able to coordinate the project and Gary Oz. has volunteered to accept the responsibility of coordinating these effort within our club in the future.   • Dictionary Project - is in need of a champion (chair person) as the past chair, Bill Huba in no longer a member. CLICK HERE to learn more about the The Dictionary Project.

  Rosemary Mondo is helping her father who is battling cancer.  Please keep Rosemary and her family in your thoughts
  Our fellow member and friend Charlie McElroy is also battling cancer in his jaw.  He is resting comfortably at home.  He has good days and not-so-good days.  Bill and Corinne Buterbaugh had an in-person visit with Charlie and his wife, Anne, last week and Charlie enjoyed a glass of wine.  Reaching out to Charlie in the form of card, emails (mcelroys71@gmail.com), or phone calls would be appreciated.  Short, in-person visits can be arranged by contacting Anne McElroy (315-554-8232)
  Danny Roche celebrates his 80th birthday on August 22 and he enjoyed a rendition of "Happy Birthday" sung by club members.
  Ed Evans is extending an invitation to our District Governor, Gerald Seguin, to attend an upcoming club meeting.

New Meeting Schedule!!
Members voted in favor of a new meeting schedule for our club.  Starting in August the schedule for meetings within a month is:
  • First Thursday - Dinner meeting with speaker.  Meeting starts at 6:30 and ends at 8:00
  • Second Thursday - Optional attendance at Happy hour from 5:30 to 6:30.
  • Third Thursday - Dinner meeting with speaker.  Meeting starts at 6:30 and ends at 8:00
  • Fourth Thursday - No meeting
  • Fifth Thursday (when applicable) - Dinner meeting with speaker.  Meeting starts at 6:30 and ends at 8:00
With fewer meetings attendance is more important than ever!
