Howdy from Wyoming ... by, Alice Purdy I visited the Jackson Hole Rotary Supper Club on Tuesday Feb 16. I exchanged club banners with Sadek Darwiche the JH club president. There were 20-25 Rotarians at the meeting. It is also called "The Centennial Club" because it was chartered on Feb 23, 2005, the 100th anniversary of Rotary.
At the start of the meeting, Sadek discussed a new fund-raising project that their club wants to run and possibly replace their wine auction event. The new project "Red Balls" is used at various ski areas in Colorado. (Google Durango and Red Balls). They might try to run their own Red Balls event here on March 20 as part of a local celebration on that day. It is a very short time to prepare!
The guest speaker was from the US Forest Service. He spoke about the projects he works on jointly with the WY DOT and Federal Government (National Parks in area). He spoke about the new Truck Arrestor that is going to be installed in WY to replace runaway ramps. He also discussed wildlife over and under passes being built to reduce wildlife kills on the highways.
It was very enjoyable to meet many Rotarians

Summary Notes of Feb 18 Meeting... by Ward
Your Board of Directors met last Thursday, Feb. 18th and the following is a summary of discussions points and resolutions.
Bill Blessing Resignation - Bill Blessing tendered is resignation and will be joining the Leesburg, Va. RC on, or about, Feb. 25th. His resignation, in good standing, from the SRC be be effective Feb. 24th
Officers & Board of Directors - There are 4 open slots for the 2016-18 terms for Directors who terms expire on June 2016 (Tormey, McElroy, Moran & McDonald). Mary Giroux and Bill Conole have agreed take two of the slots, and Roy MacDonald is taking on a second term. This leaves one open. Once we have the fourth, their names will be put before the membership in an election. We still have the PE slot for 2016-17 open.
RI & District Dues - The Jan-Jun semester dues have been paid; RI = $2,028 and District = $1,110
Five Paul Harris Fellow Awards - We have five PHF+ pins to present, and are planning on making the presentation at the March 17th meeting when RI Director, Jennifer Jones is visiting our club.
Rotary Foundation Giving to Date - Annual Giving; $5,745 or 93% of our goal. PolioPlus; $2,076 or 103% of goal. We still have 150 matching point available.
Skaneateles Annual Easter Egg Hunt - A donation to the event was approved.
Flint Michigan Water - Funds were approved to support the Flint Child Health & Development Fund, to assist those children affected by the water issue.
Skaneateles Early Childhood Center - A donation to this organization was approved.

District Assistant Governor - Area 6: President Cheryl introduced AG Colleen Weibel briefly described her duties as our Assistant Governor. She also named the 8 local Rotary Clubs she is serving as (Aurora, Auburn, Camillus, Skaneateles, Skaneateles SunRise, Moravia, Marcellus & Tully)
Hilltop Next Week - President Cheryl reminded everyone that next week, Thursday February 25th, we are meeting in the Hilltop Restaurant. Bill Conole noted that the Hilltop agreed to serve 3 entries [a meat, a fish & a vegetarian] for $15.
District Conference - Cheryl urged members to sign up for the 2016 District Conference which is being held in the Holiday Inn in Auburn.
Canine Companion Puppies - Our speaker Mary Giroux opened her presentation with a brief videotape that showcased the remarkable skills of canine companions. For the past several years Mary has served as a "volunteer puppy raiser". Over this period Mary has cared for & trained 11 Canine Companion [CC] puppies. During this 18 month training period Mary provides basic obedience training & socializes the CC puppies. After the puppies leave Mary they receive comprehensive training from Professional CC instructors. During this 6-9 month training the dogs must master 40 commands before the dogs can go through Team Training & be matched with an adult or child who has a disability. Mary noted that this training program costs about $50,000 per dog. Fewer than 50% of the dogs selected for the Canine Companion program are able to successfully complete this rigorous training program. Team Training culminates in a joyful graduation ceremony for graduate dogs. Mary said that training these dogs to be able to serve disabled people is very fulfilling.

OUR 2015-16 ROTARY YOUTH EXCHANGE
LONG TERM EXCHANGE PROGRAM
Outbound - The 2015-16 Rotary Youth Exchange Outbound students have departed for a year as exchange students abroad. Sofia Darovskikh, to Finland, and Zach Driscoll to Germany. We wish them all the best on their "adventure of a lifetime".
Inbound - student have moved to their second host families: Vincent , from France, hosted by Jessica & Tom Wingfield, and Daniela from Chile, hosted by Shelly & Marc Strang.
SHORT TERM EXCHANGE PROGRAM (STEP)
Hope Glowacki has spent a few weeks in Sicily, Italy and her host sister, Irene returned with her to Skaneateles for a few weeks.
Adrianna Marshall traveled to Thuringia, Germany and his host sister, Constanze, returned to Skaneateles for an exchange.
