During these difficult times it is even more important than ever that we reach out and stay in touch with our membership. Each week we list in our club bulletin (left column) those members who are celebrating their birthdays during the month, which gives us all an opportunity to reach out to them with a birthday greeting and to express our gratitude for their service-above-self. Try it, and you will brighten their day ... and ... make your day.

The Beginnings
The meeting opened with President Dave welcoming everyone and recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Program - Operation Souther Comfort
Bill Conole introduced our guest speaker Norm Andrzejewski. Norm is a former health care planner who founded Operation Southern Comfort in response to Hurricane Katrina, which devastated New Orleans in 2005. Norm organized over 50 trips to New Orleans, Mississippi, Texas and North Carolina in response to natural disasters. More than 2500 volunteers from CNY including a number of youth groups have participated in these trips where homes were repaired, built, and trees were planted. In 2012 Operation Southern Comfort became Operation Northern Comfort. The organization has repaired homes, built homes and partnered with ARISE to build over 500 ramps for access for those with disabilities in the CNY area. The most recent project tackled by Operation Northern Comfort was the building and distribution of over 900 desks for students attending school remotely due to COVID. Norm spoke about how rewarding it is to be able to help people in a very meaningful way. Many of those aided by Operation Southern and Northern Comfort have become family to him. Operation Northern Comfort accepts donations at their websitewww.operationnc.org. On May 1st Operation Northern Comfort's Crawfish Festival will take place at the Syracuse Inner Harbor from noon until six. Thank you to Norm and his many volunteers for helping so many!
