The Program - Three of our newest members gave their classification talks.
Jay Stith told us about growing up in Skaneateles, delivering the Pennysaver to some of us and working at Valentines. His golf talents came in handy with a scholarship to Nazareth College where he pursued a degree in economics and enjoyed the four to one ratio of female students to male students. Since graduating from Nazareth Jay worked at the Red Cross and earned an advanced degree from Cornell. Jay is currently working as a data analyst with a health insurance consulting practice, pursuing a doctorate degree from Harvard and is involved in a number of community organizations
Rosemary Mondo grew up in Liverpool and attended St. John Fisher College earning a degree in International Studies. After working in banking Rosemary branched out into the travel industry working her way up and fulfilling her goal to "learn everything." She worked and studied abroad, lived in Florence where she earned a degree in Italian Studies. Rosemary decided to make Skaneateles her home four years ago and operates her travel agency, Via Mondo Travel and Wellness. And, Rosemary is also a certified yoga instructor!
Jason Armijo was born and raised in the mountains of Ecuador. He grew up on an orange and cocoa farm and then moved to the coast when he was 15. There he met Katie Lee who worked with his Mom and the Skaneateles connection was made! Although Jason did not speak English he and Katie became a couple, got married and now have a lovely family. Jason originally wanted to become a veterinarian but after moving to Skaneateles and working with Dave Lee discovered that he enjoyed building things. Jason now has his own business with two employees and said the he "is very fortunate to be in this town." We are very fortunate to have Jason as he also said that he "enjoys flipping pancakes!"
Our club is fortunate to have the talents and enthusiasm for service to others of Jay, Rosemary and Jason.
The Ending -Members recited the Four Way Test
Our Condolences... by Ward
Our condolences go out to Roberta Williams and family for the loss of her father, Robert (Bob) Williams, who passed away last week. Those of us who were acquainted with Bob knew him as a good friend and outstanding Rotarian. Bob joined the Chittenago Rotary Club in 1953, and had served two terms and the club's president and was a multiple Paul Harris Fellow. Bob was a frequent attendee to our Pancake Breakfast and Christmas Basket events with his Rotarian daughters; Roberta & Suzette. Bob will be missed by all those who had the great pleasure of calling him a good friend.
