PRESIDENTS' CORNER... by co-Pres., Mary
This is Memorial Day weekend, a time when we honor those who have served our country. It will be a quieter holiday weekend than normal without traditional gatherings, parades and ceremony.
As I sit here and look out my window at all of the new Spring growth I can't help but think of how fortunate we are, even during this difficult time, to live in such a beautiful place. The beauty is multiplied by the wonderful sense of community that we have as shown by our club's actions to help our neighbors who are experiencing economic hardships through the food drive and our Pancake Breakfast fundraiser. Hopefully, next year we will be in the midst of preparing for our breakfast, but this year we are still busy giving to our wonderful community. Thanks everyone!

Food Drive a Hugh Success. .... by Ward
Many thanks to our many volunteer Rotarians, Interactors & friends, the Skaneateles Rotary Food Drive was concluded today (May 25th) with several SUV loads of donated food going to the Skaneateles Food Pantry, and a trailer load delivered to the Spafford Food Pantry in Scott. In addition, there were $2,400+ monetary donations received, which will be distributed to the two pantries.
The outcome far exceeded our expectations, which speaks loads about the outpouring of love and generosity from of our community during this exception time of need.
Someone asked during the Sunday sorting party; How much food do we have here? The answer from one of busy sorters in between breaths was; "A whole lot, plus a big bunch more". From off in the back, was heard; "A whole ____ load". And then we heard from a senior member; "This is cool man ..... way cool!". Suffice to say WE HAD FUN while working together to serve our community.
To all those who were able to chip in during the Memorial Day weekend; our hats off, and our masks and gloves remain on.

Beyond the Pancakes ... by Lori
The sad news is we are canceling our annual Father’s Day Pancake breakfast with the health and safety of everyone in mind.
The good news is we have come up with a way to raise money without having our traditional pancake breakfast, by utilizing an on-line fundraising service called Rallyup. (Please note: we originally planned to have a raffle option, but this has been canceled because it isn’t legal to do on-line in NYS).
The community needs are greater than ever as a result of COVID-19. 100% of the funds donated will go to local food pantries and school and community outreach meal programs. (Please be aware: because we are utilizing a free service, it may either prompt or attempt to add a tip to your donation. Look carefully for this and delete. We do not benefit from the tips; they go to the service).
Choose a donation amount, or create your own amount. At checkout, watch for the tip option and delete.
Share this with everyone you would normally invite to the breakfast (and more!)
Rotary will surprise some donors after the campaign by giving out some Skaneateles Chamber of Commerce gift certificates (thanks to donations from generous sponsors). This is intended to infuse dollars back to business owners who have been hit hard by the virus as well.
These are unprecedented times – our community needs Rotary more than ever! And we need your help to make this successful. In addition to donating, you can help by encouraging your friends and family to give as well. Please share this message in any way you choose (via email or Facebook or word-of-mouth!)
Mark your calendars for 20-26 June for an exciting opportunity to gather online with the family of Rotary for our first online convention.
