February Renovations - In late February & early March the historic Sherwood Inn is undergoing their most extensive renovations in decades. Since Bill Eberhardt purchased & revived the Inn forty four years ago, Bill & the Sherwood Staff has been very gracious in hosting our Rotary Club for our weekly meetings. According to club lore, four decades ago Bill Eberhart came to the Hill Top Restaurant (then our club’s meeting site) to invite our club to have our meetings in the Sherwood Inn. Without question, our club’s meeting site, in the beautiful Sherwood Inn, is the beautiful Rotary Club meeting site in New York State & beyond. So, let me take this opportunity to express our members appreciation to Bill Eberhart & the Sherwood Staff for their forty years of excellent service to our Skaneateles Rotary Club.
Meetings - Since we are not meeting on Valentine’s Day you will miss my annual tributes to two of February’s champion luminaries, St Valentine & Abe Lincoln. Valentine’s message of love has endured for 17 centuries. President Lincoln’s appeal to American Citizens’ “better angels” is particularly pertinent in our nation’s current turbulent times. Our next meeting will be on February 21stin the Sherwood. On February 28thwe will be meeting in Rosalie’s Restaurant. Thanks go to Roberta Williams for making arrangements for Rosalie’s. On March 7thour club is celebrating it’s 5thAnnual International Women’s Day Celebration in the Welch Allyn Lodge. Amy Tormey & her IWD Team have worked hard to make this year’s celebration special. On March 14thwe are meeting in the American Legion Post 239’s recently renovated upper room. Appropriately our program will be on the centennial of the Skaneateles American Legion. -----See everyone on the 21st.

DID YOU KNOW ? All coffee is grown within 1,000 miles of the equator. The word “tip” is also related to coffee. It comes from old London coffeehouses where the waiters’ brass boxes were etched with the inscription, “To Insure Promptness.” In fact, it was in one such coffeehouses which belonged to a Mr Lloyd that a few cargo insurers got together to start the Lloyd’s insurance company.
