This week we were treated to a presentation by Jeffry Comanici, Director of Philanthropy at the Crouse Health Foundation; he came to Crouse from Syracuse University, where he had been the Assistant Dean for Advancement for the College of Visual and Performing Arts. Jeff spoke about the upcoming ‘Polo for Preemies’ fundraiser at the Skaneateles Polo Club on Sunday, July 31, at 1:00PM. Proceeds from ‘Polo for Preemies’ will benefit the Baker Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, where "Little Fighters," the region's tiniest and sickest newborns, are cared for. Supporting materials and advertising for the occasion were handed out by Skantarian Chris Cheney, who also introduced Jeff, a friend of his. Chris further offered to personally offset the cost of guests a Skantarian was able to bring to the event, up to a total of $250.00. Those who are able to attend are certainly encouraged to do so. The event is very much in line with the spirit of Rotary and a reminder of how lucky we are as individuals and as a community to be able to host and contribute to such a worthy cause. Thank you, Chris, for your generous offer and the example you set.

200 Club - Cheryl promoted our club's 200 Club Fund Raiser as an easy way to benefit our community & youth groups. Cheryl explained how this fund raiser works & encouraged our members to sell & to purchase the $100 fund raising tickets. (see CLUB 200 below)
Directories Ward distributed the Skaneateles Rotary Club 2016-17 Directories, which published this week. Copies will be sent to those Rotarians not present at the meeting.

Kazakhstan Students - As the meeting ended we welcomed several Kazakhstan students & their teacher Tatyanna Arendarenko to Skaneateles. Tatyanna thanked our club for generously funds for the students to travel to Niagara Falls & Western New York.

VISITING FORMER CLUB ... by Ward
Kathy Crelot recently returned to her former Rotary Club in Geneva NY for a visit. This gave her an opportunity to share new and old Rotary experiences while renewing old acquaintances, and to exchange club banners. Visiting one of the over 33,000 Rotary Clubs in our world, no matter how near for far, affords us the opportunity to share our Rotary experiences and to discover new and successful ways of serving our own communities. Rotary membership is our gateway into new, and familiar, friendships and service connections, as Kathy has learned in her years as a Rotarian. (see FINDING A CLUB below)
It may not be as exciting as cracking eggs or flipping pancakes, but the 200 Club Raffle is an easy way to raise money to benefit community and youth groups.
Here’s how it works: we sell 200 tickets at $20 each totaling $4,000. We give away $1500 in prizes which leaves us with $2500 to use for worthy causes. We will sell tickets throughout July and August. Two $50 prizes will be drawn at our Club Meetings on 9/1, 9/8, 9/15, 9/22, and 9/29. On 10/6, we will draw a $250 winner, as well as the $750 Grand Prize winner. Also, all weekly winners will be put back into the raffle and be eligible for the Grand Prize!
We need to sell all 200 tickets for this raffle to make it work as outlined, so please consider selling at least 5 tickets to family, friends, co-workers, etc. – and don’t forget to buy your own! Cheryl will have tickets available at all weekly meetings. If paying by check, please make payable to Skaneateles Rotary Foundation. Be sure the contact information is completed on the ticket and give that portion of the ticket to Cheryl along with ticket money/checks.

As you know, The Sherwood Inn provides a Chef’s choice meal at our weekly meetings. They ask that if you cannot have the meal provided you call in and leave a message at 685-8981 ext. 225 or email events@theSherwoodinn.com prior to 5 p.m. the day of the meeting. You will no longer be able to make a special request at the meeting.
If you cannot have the meal provided, you may choose from the following options only:
Sherwood Salad – plain
Sherwood Salad with chicken (can request no bacon)
Sherwood Salad with a scoop of tuna fish (can request no bacon)

D7150 Youth Exchange Welcome Home Dinner is to be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at The Rusty Rail, Route 5, Canastota, NY
All students who were abroad during the period of July 2015 through July 2016 attend this annual event to relate their impressions as well as afford outbounds for next year (2016-17) the benefit of their experiences. The short speech by each of the returning students relays the highlights of his/her exchange experiences. Dinner attendees and Outbound Students are urged to arrive by 5:45 pm, so that the dinner and talks will commence on time.
All Youth Exchange students will be the guests of the Youth Exchange Committee at the dinner. The cost for Rotarians and family members will be $19.00 per person with advance registration by July 25, 2016, or $24.00 per person after July 25th. Info & Registration Link
