Skaneateles Rotary Club Kicks Off
New Rotary Foundation Challenge ... by Bill Buterbaugh
At the Skaneateles Rotary Club’s Social Hour at the American Legion on September 23, Bill Buterbaugh launched a new club challenge for The Rotary Foundation and Polio Plus giving this Rotary year. CLICK HERE to view informative flyerdistributed to those in attendance. The challenge:
To meet our club’s goals for The Rotary Foundation of $5,000 for Annual Giving and $2,000 for Polio Plus
by October 24 – Rotary’s World Polio Day.
That’s just one month to make a big difference.
In recent years, the club has used World Polio Day to start it Foundation and Polio Plus giving efforts by collecting Happy Dollars at the weekly meeting to kickoff the Polio Plus effort. But this year, we are hoping members will accept the challenge of getting their donation in early so we can celebrate our success on World Polio Day instead of just starting the work. To that end, Bill has created a flyer with the challenge details that will be emailed to all members or sent via regular mail if no email. Weekly reminders to help meet the challenge will be sent until the goal is reached.
In addition to the club’s usual incentives of receiving the Paul Harris Fellow points for your contribution and our club making a $50 match for each of the first 30 contributions of $100 or more, Ward Vuillemot is providing one of his beautiful, custom bottle stoppers and 100 more points for those contributing $100 or more to PolioPlus. See Ward’s separate email sent on September 25 for all the details on this terrific opportunity to pick up at least 250 Paul Harris Fellow points.
So, let’s have everyone together show how easy it is to meet this new club challenge by sending your Rotary Foundation contribution to either Bill Buterbaugh at 103 East Genesee Street, Skaneateles, NY 13152 or Ward Vuillemot at 8 Teasel Lane, Skaneateles, NY 13152. We know you can blow the doors off this challenge in the same manner as you have easily met our club’s Foundation goals in the past. We’ll make World Polio Day a day to celebrate.
Hurry…the challenge deadline is October 24, 2021. Thank you.
Word from the
Skaneateles Rotary Foundation … by Marv
In the past year, five (5) Rotarians have donated funds to the Skaneateles Rotary Foundation CNY Community Foundation Account. These donations are coming from fellow Rotarians that support the goal of building an endowment fund to ensure there are adequate funds available for worthy causes.
It is coming up to the time of the year where Required Minimum Distribution decisions must be made concerning your IRAs. A nice tax advantage that can be made with your RMD, or any portion of the RMD, is to make a direct donation to a charitable organization. Our Foundation meets these requirements. And your donation will benefit worthy causes for years to come.
So, as you are making your RMD decision this year, please think of donating to the Foundation, and have it earmarked to the Endowment Fund. Your donation will be a benefit for years to come.

Then come on down on October 2, 2021, at 10 am to the NY-Auburn chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace workshop located in the Fingerlakes Mall, Auburn, NY.
