PRESIDENTS' CORNER ... by Pres., Mary Giroux
Happy Monday to everyone,
In 48 days we will be serving up pancakes, sausage and eggs to lots of hungry patrons.  To do that we need to sell lots of tickets.  John Moran, our honorable ticket chairman, will have packets of tickets to distribute at our May 3rd meeting.  So, please come to the meeting and get your tickets.  Pre breakfast ticket sales are critical to the success of the event.
See you on Thursday!

QUOTE OF THE WEEK
"What's my favorite food besides pancakes? I guess it would be flapjacks, followed closely by hotcakes. After that, crepes... but thick crepes. Y'know, like, pancake-thick." ....  Rob Riggle
LAST WEEK: .... by Bill Conole
THE BEGINNINGS
District Conference - Bill Conole subbing for President Mary made a final call for this weekend’s District Conference. Bill & Ward are attending.
Polio Plus - Bill praised Ward Vuillemot for having raised nearly $4,000 for Polio Plus by selling his handcrafted beautiful wine stoppers. Ward’s wine stopper offer is still open.
Tim Donovan Auburn Citizen Editorial - Bill showed everyone the excellent editorial Tim wrote on drug & alcohol treatment & recovery.
THE PROGRAM - Zimbabwe Girl's Education
Bill welcomed our friend Blessed Shikhosana. Blessed responded that she fels that our club is her” 2ndhome.”Several years ago Blessed developed & built a large District Grant for Zimbabwe. As a result of Blessed’s Rotary Grant, today more than 4000 people in Zimbabwe have potable water.
Now Blessed is advancing the cause of girl’s education in Zimbabwe. Blessed is very concerned that today only boys are receiving an education.  Young girls in Zimbabwe do are not afforded the same educational opportunities. Blessed’s vision is to gain educational opportunities for girls. To do this Blessed is raising money. In Zimbabwe. $500 can pay for a year’s education for young ladies. Blessed is urging Rotary Clubs to join this worthy cause. Blessed’s Fiance provided a breakdown of how this $500 provides food, uniforms, books & teachers fees for these young ladies. Blessed stressed that for $500 our club or individual members can sponsor one young Zimbabwean girl’s education for a year.
