The Skaneateles Rotary Foundation, Inc. (“Foundation”) is a not-for-profit corporation established in 2007 by the Skaneateles Rotary Club (“Club”). The Foundation operates exclusively for the benefit of charitable, educational, health, welfare and recreation needs of our community in accordance with section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue service. Thus, all contributions made payable to the Foundation are tax deductible contributions to the fullest extent allowed by law.
The Foundation maintains both a “Worthy Cause Fund” and a “Permanent Endowment Fund”.
The Worthy Cause Fund is funded primarily from money raised at two Club events: the Club’s annual December Holiday Dinner held at the Skaneateles Country Club and the Club’s annual Father’s Day Pancake Breakfast. Proceeds from the Holiday Dinner are immediately donated to the Skaneateles and Spafford Food Pantries and the Skaneateles Outreach Program. The money raised from the Pancake breakfast is dispersed throughout the year in the form of grants from the Foundation to various worthy causes and organizations, which have been identified and approved by our Club.
The Permanent Endowment Fund, established in 2013, is an investment fund, where the principal balance (donated monies) generally remains intact, and only the investment income earned by the Fund is used to fund worthy causes, and also to increase the principal balance of the Permanent Endowment Fund over time. The Permanent Endowment Fund is funded from cash gifts and bequests from Club members and their families, and other individuals who believe in the good works of the Skaneateles Rotary Club.
