It is this time of year when we gather together with family and friends to celebrate the holidays. It is also a time that reminds us of how lucky we are to be able to share these moments with the people in our lives. Last Thursday evening I was reminded of just how fortunate I am to be part of a Club that puts the needs of others before their own. And how proud I am to call the members of this Club my friends. Please accept my heartfelt wishes for a holiday full of love and laughter, family and friends, and a New Year that brings you health and happiness.
Happy Holidays!
Cheryl
LAST WEEK: Rotarians, their spouses & guests filled the West Wing of the Sherwood Inn for our 2014 Club Christmas Party. Our festivities began with cocktails & hors d’oeuvres on the West Porch. Everyone enjoyed the excellent Sherwood dinner entrees. Beautiful “Holiday Music” was provided by four Interact Students from Skaneateles High School. All four students are accomplished musicians & vocalists. For several of the songs Rotarians & their guests joined the musicians in singing traditional holiday songs. Lori Ruhlman introduced our Rotary exchange students Bartek from Poland & Marcus from Brazil they were each given a Christmas gift from the club. Karen Price introduced our Interact Students & musicians. President Cheryl had each table introduce their spouses & guests. In keeping with the evening’s long standing tradition Dan Roach closed the party by leading everyone in singing Silent Night.CLICK HERE to view the pictures of the event. .... by Bill Conole

DICKENS ON CHRISTMAS - I have always thought of Christmas time, when it has come round -- apart from the veneration due to its sacred name and origin, if anything belonging to it can be apart from that -- as a good time: a kind, forgiving, charitable, pleasant time: the only time I know of, in the long calendar of the year, when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up hearts freely, and to think of people below them as if they really were fellow-passengers to the grave, and not another race of creatures bound on their journeys. A Christmas Carol ~Charles Dickens
