WHAT PAUL HARRIS SAID:
"In the clashes between ignorance and intelligence, ignorance is generally the aggressor."
ROTARY/DOUBLEDAY BALLGAME NIGHT - Tuesday, August 26th, (replaces Thursday, August 28th meeting) we are planning our weekly meeting to be at a Rotary night Doubleday Ballgame, Falcon Park, Auburn.  Cost is $25 per person, which includes food, beer, beverages, dessert and ticket to the game.  We will be joined by Rotarians from Area 6 clubs (8), plus clubs from 10 other regional clubs form adjoining districts. We must have confirmations of those planning to attend by August 19th.
LAST WEEK  .... by Bill Conole   Steve Buechner, Landscape Architect &Developer opened his presentation by expressing his concern on preserving the natural landscapes of Skaneateles Lake. Steve’s family has owned a cottage & land on the lake for more than 60 years and feels that over this period a good deal of the development around the lake has been done without properly preserving the lake’s extremely beautiful natural landscapes. Steve spoke of the many projects he has helped guide & develop in CNY over the past 40 years. In recent years he has worked on redeveloping downtown Syracuse. Steve noted that many people are returning to downtown & Syracuse is poised to make a comeback. To accomplish this, downtown development will have to be carefully planned. A key issue to this growth is how to modernize & revamp Route 81’s elevated highway. Steve displayed renderings of his plan to rework Route 81 to allow for a park & green space in the city center.
