RLI (Rotary Leadership Institute) Verona, Oct. 25- This is the LAST WEEK to enroll in the Verona RLI. We encourage newer members and officers to attend. The club will reimburse you for your $75 fee. If you are unable to make it on the 25th, you can register for the Canandaigua RLI on Nov. 1st, which is about the same driving distance for Skaneateles.
BOARD MEETING SUMMARY NOTES- The club's Board of Directors met Oct. 9th and discussed and acted upon the following:
RLI - Discussed - We need to encourage newer members and officers to attend this meaningful Rotary information event.
Rotary Brunch - Attendance. Our club will be represented since we were one of the top D7150, RF giving clubs in 2013-14
District Matching Grants review
2013-14 - Baseball field - Last item to close out the grant is to issue a press release (Bill Conole to write the release)
2914-15 - So Sudan clinic - medical equipment is on hold since we are unable to get the equipment into the country.
Future Grants - looks to community special needs, veteran projects as well as international projects.
Auburn Rotary 100th Anniversary Clock - We will make a donation toward this project, since Auburn Rotary sponsored Skaneateles Rotary club in 1927.
Dictionary & Thesaurus Project - We will distribute dictionaries to 3rd graders and thesauruses to 5th graders again this year.
Rotary Foundation giving - Matching dollars and points approved for early donations. More to follow on this from the RF committee.
Annual Meeting - Dec. 11th - Purpose is to vote on new slate of Directors and Officers. Prez Cheryl to appoint the selection committee.
Paul Harris Fellow - A PHF award has been proposed and to be funded by a member's PH recognition points.
LAST WEEK.... by Bill Conole .Charlie Wallace opened this week’s program by reviewing the plans for the improvement project for our Skaneateles Y & Community Center & by reviewing the fund drive that is raising money for this project. Charlie described the plans several options in detail. He reported that the “major donor“ portion of the fund drive is proceeding well and that next month the fund drive will start making solicitations to the residents of the Skaneateles area. Dorthea Hughes reported that our Y membership has grown by an outstanding 90% to an all time high of more than 3,900 members. Over the past year Dorthea & her team have introduced several new programs for members of all ages. Membership satisfaction is very high. In closing Charlie Wallace recognized Rotary Club members Robin Jowaisas, Chuck O’Neal & Guido van der Ven for their major contributions to the success our Y & Community Center is now experiencing. ---50-50-won by Bill Blessing---Bill Conole won the drawing for 3 free months of Y membership---Inbound Students Kata Huru & Marcus Moraes attended the meeting.
