NOTICE - There is a Board Meeting this week for 2014-15 Directors and Club Officers as listed on the left column of this newsletter.  5 PM at the Sherwood.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED - Sunday, July 13th, 3 PM, Village Office building (old fire hall), to pack children's books following the Skaneateles Book Sale.  Typically we are done within about an hour.  This project counts as a meeting makeup for those that participate.
District Change of the Guard - June 26th - It's official.  Cheryl is our new President and Bill steps aside as our Immediate Past President.  Cheryl and Bill exchanged the gavel along with DG Deb and PDG Dennis and many other D7150 club officers at the Changing of the Guard at The Links on Erie.  A highlight of the evening were the club awards.  Our club received: a 2013-14 Presidential Citation With Distraction for a  well rounded and successful year; the Rotary Club Central award for staying current with our Goals and Objective and membership records, and a Rotarian of Excellence for Ward and his activities and dedication to club, district and international projects.

GIRL SCOUTS - Donna Danylec gave a excellent presentation of the Girl Scout movement in today’s world. Traditional scouting still exists with camping & crafts but is now strengthen to give girls greater confidence, poise, speaking abilities and much greater exposure to the social, educational and financial problems of the nation.  They have early exposure to higher education with emphasis on science and math with weekend trips to colleges and universities thanks to Wells College, Cornell and Colgate and other universities throughout the state. Of particular concern is the high incidence of depression among young girls and scout leaders spend a considerable amount of time on this problem. 19.8% is eligible girls in Skaneateles are in scouting. Rotarian Cathy Powell stressed the importance of the Girl Scout movement and recalled her early days in scouting.
YOUTH EXCHANGE FAREWELLS - Fabrinana, Soern and Bam Bam then gave very emotional “good bye” talks. All three recounted their exceptional year here in Skaneateles.  They expressed thanks to their extraordinary host families and to the great work of Lee Bennett, Bill Stevens, Lori Ruhlman, Karen Price and Amy Tormey. Karen Price and Lee Bennett then presented all three with going away and thank you gifts for their cultural contributions to the Skaneateles community.
